Locals said the new McDonald's advertisement is "just as bad" as the original, which went viral after being displayed close to a UK crematorium.

The original advertisement for the McDonald's McCrispy showed a picture of a chicken breast fillet stuffed into a bun with a crispy coating.

The advertisement itself wasn't really the problem; rather, it was the closeness of a... crematorium to something "crisp" that was being advertised.

Yes, it drew criticism when it was put up at a bus stop next to the Penmount Crematorium in Truro, Cornwall; people called it "tasteless."

One woman, whose mother-in-law was cremated there last year, spoke with CornwallLive and said: "Although I can see the funny side, it is tasteless and I'm sure some grieving family members won't like to see it when visiting Penmount for the funeral and cremation of a loved one."

Later, McDonald's announced that it would take down the sign and that it is taking the situation seriously.

A spokesperson said: "We were unaware of the road sign in the vicinity of this bus stop.

“However, in light of the concerns raised by CornwallLive, we have asked for our advertisement to be removed."

True to its word, the business has since taken down the offending advertisement from the bus stop and replaced it with one promoting the Tate, a St. Ives-based art gallery.

The only issue is that this one emphasizes a £5 "locals' pass," which doesn't seem to have been well received by locals either.

Although the sign is promoting a locals' pass for the Tate, individuals may ask if they will receive a discount for standard cremations given the location's proximity to a crematorium.

One amused bystander informed CornwallLive of the substitution: “You couldn’t make this up.”

Another said: "I don't know what's worse, this one or the first one.”

Another user remarked that it's "not much better" than the McDonald's artwork, while another said that someone "clearly has a sense of humor."

Another person, from the Netherlands, joked that the location's advertising charges ought to increase given how popular the bus stop advertisements are.
