10 Unbelievable Things Pulled From The Sewers

#1 Human babies

Sadly and much to everyone's horror, in 2013 a human baby was pulled from a sewer pipe in China’s Zhejiang Province by firefighters. Another horrifying case happened in China’s Shaanxi Province when a baby was flushed down the toilet with the umbilical cord still attached. The baby was rescued when cries were heard by passers-by. Both babies are believed to be healthy.

#2 Alligator

In 2006, a 6-pound living alligator was found living in a three-foot wide drain. Thanks to the rescuers the reptile was saved just in time.

#3 Cow

After missing for four days straight the animal was saved from a sewer in the Fujian Province in China when moos were heard coming from the drain.

#4 Mandible

This jaw bone of a mysterious animal was discovered when blockages from sewers were cleaned.

#5 Fax machine and a bicycle

A sewer in Scotland when cleared it was found that the drain was blocked because of a pink bicycle and a fax machine. No one still has any idea of how these items even reached there.

#6 Motorbike

From a village in the United Kingdom, Trent, council workers managed to extract a motocross bike from the sewers.

#7 Puppies

Rescuers managed to save a puppy from a drain in Victoria, UK. Similarly, in the US three puppies were pulled from a storm drain and saved after their mother was killed in a hit and run accident with a car.

#8 Dinosaur remains

Dinosaur remains were found in 2010 from the Quesnell Heights suburb in Canada. A tooth from the Albertosaurus was found. This dinosaur was from the same Genus as the T-rex.

#9 Goldfish

Canadian authorities have always warned their people of flushing goldfish down the drain. It was found that the waterways provided suitable habitats for the goldfish, and therefore they have been breeding rapidly.

This rapid growth of goldfish was found to be a major reason when 40 fish were found from a single pond.

#10 Gold

A water treatment plant in Nagano, Japan has managed to extract roughly USD$55,000 worth of gold from the sludge sent to their facility from the sewers. It is predicted that this treatment plant yields more gold per tonne of sludge than some top gold mines yield per tonne of ore.
