There’s no scarier setting than babysitting in a big, dark house you’re unfamiliar with.
7 Babysitters Share The Creepiest Thing That Ever Happened While They Were Alone With The Kids
#1
My friend had to babysit his Mom's friend's two kids, a boy about 10 and a girl about 8, and he was able to have me hang out as well. The boy was aloud to play outside as long as he stayed near the house, but the girl had to stay inside.
The first thing that was weird was the girl never said a word. She sat on the couch and just sat there staring at us with huge eyes. Juststaring. We tried talking to her, but nothing.
We went outside to check on the boy, and caught him nailing a live snake to a board. We just backed away, went inside, and watched TV until we could go.
#2 The kidnapping that almost was
I was in grade school and was told to watch my brother a year younger than me. My doorbell rang once and I didn't answer because I was taught not to answer the door when young and home alone. So I just ignore the ring.
Then the doorbell is pressed another five times so I assume it's my family or a friend. I go into my dining room and peer through the window. A man in a trench coat with a hat is walking away from my home and starts pacing in my driveway.
I freak out and check that my back door is locked and get my brother to do the garage and the front door. The man comes back as my brother is sitting UNDERNEATH the door as the man is now not only knocking and ringing the doorbell but also trying to turn the door knob.
After a few minutes he goes onto the road and reverses In his KIDNAPPER car down my street. Still wondering what would've happened if he turned the knob his first visit to my door.
#3 I didn’t know this either…
Not scary in a horror movie type way, but nearly gave me a heart attack. As a young teen I didn't realize that some babies sleep with their eyes open. Go in to check on the baby after an hour or so and I had a heart stopping few seconds when I thought he was dead.

Okay so I was babysitting a two-month-old (my niece ) & a five-year-old (my other niece) at my house. The five-year-old was sleeping in my mom's room right across from the baby's room. I was laying in bed in the baby's room & it's like midnight. All of a sudden my 5 five year old niece starts screaming from across the hall. I jump out of bed & find her sitting up right in bed with her eyes closed as if she's still sleeping & she's pointing in the corner saying the witch is here! the witch is here! I lay her back down & she lays down as if nothing had happened. When I walk back into the baby's room, she's sitting up & playing patty cake & looking up at the corner in the ceiling. How does a 2 month old baby know how to play patty cake? I have no flipping idea. Freaked me out.

while in my last year at uni I was trying to earn a little extra money and decided to post ads online for babysitting and dog-walking services in my local area. Most people with ads on there had put a picture of themselves and so did I (logic being that parents would want to check out potential babysitters by appearance too) and most people put contact numbers on there too, so I also did that, thinking it might give potential customers more points of contact than just messaging through the ad site.
So, within about 45 minutes of posting this ad, I am downstairs cooking dinner, I hear my phone ringing in my bedroom but am tied up with hot pans on the stove etc. so I left it, annoyed that I had missed a potential customer.
However, I hear my phone ringing again, and again, and AGAIN. I dash up as soon as I can free myself from cooking and go and pick up the phone. When I pick up all I can hear is heavy breathing, so naturally after I don't get a reply I hang up. The phone rings again as soon as I put it down. I pick up again and eventually a guy replies.
The guy starts off normal and I figured that perhaps it had just been a bad line before. He first explains that he has two kids under five and then asks me If I think I can handle them. Having experience with (some pretty shittily behaved) kids in the past I say yes. He then asks me if I stay overnight when babysitting (this pulled up a red flag in my mind) and I firmly say no.
After this, he then goes silent again and all I hear is some heavy breathing, I ask if he is still there and then suddenly he says "are you a virgin?" and I hung up. The phone keeps ringing and ringing and ringing for another hour non stop. He had withheld his number so I couldn't specifically block that number but then I found the function to block withheld numbers on my phone, did it, deleted my number from the ad site and then proceeded to message every other person on there in my local area with a babysitting ad to warn them, turns out some of them had had similar experiences.
I would never have fallen for the "do you stay overnight?" part, but it made me shudder to think of teenagers or vulnerable adults falling for it and what could have happened to them. If he hadn't withheld his number I would have reported him in an instant. I felt so unsafe and was jumping at shadows for the rest of that evening.
#6 “Daddy likes naked girls”
Once a I was baby sitting a pair of siblings one boy around 7 and his sister around 4 at the time. As I was getting the girl ready for bed she ran out of her room naked as her brother screamed "Ewwww gross put your clothes on I don't like naked girls" the little girl chimed in saying "Daddy likes naked girls" Not sure why a four year old would say something like that/have knowledge of such a thing. Creeped me out a little.
#7 There was a trail of blood
Started with hearing crying like noises coming from outside, actually kind of sounded like a baby crying but the one I was babysitting was sound asleep. Went outside to investigate but didn't see anything but when I closed the door there was blood on the floor behind me leading all the way through the kitchen and up the stairs. I didn't want to act scared or anything in front of one of the other little kids I was babysitting so I just tried to act cool, kept saying "it's alright probably nothing" while in my head I was screaming "What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck".
Went upstairs anyway by myself to investigate and the blood stopped and was smeared on the bathroom door, prooperly shitting myself at this stage. Opened it up and saw a cat bleeding from its face hiding in the bath tub. Turned out it just got in a fight with another cat and must have ran in when I opened to door to check outside, the noises were just those weird noises cats make when confronting each other. Parents also didn't mention they had a cat so that didn't help.
Only thing that confused me though was the blood on the bathroom door was pretty high up, not really sure how the cat could have got it up there. Needles to say though opening up that door was one of the most tense moments of my life, felt like I was in a horror movie.
