A man who had spent around 20 years as a preschool teacher lost his job in September. He was recently working at a car dealership auto sales center. It was a daily routine for him to buy a lottery ticket and was lucky enough that he won a lottery worth 250,000 dollars. He has now many plans for the future.
A Teacher In North Carolina Wins $250,000 Lottery Months After Going Through A Tough Time
Joe Camp, a resident of North Carolina won the lottery worth 250,000 Dollars
Before his fortunes turned over onto Christmas Eve morning, Joe Camp experienced an especially rough few months, lost his long-time career and grieving his father's death.
The citizen of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to a gas station that morning to purchase a lottery ticket, according to his daily practice. However, on the Gold Rush ticket he won that day, he ended up earning $250,000.
He bought two tickets and was lucky after he scratched the second one
“Thursday morning, I went to the store and bought a scratch-off ticket like I usually do,” Camp said in a press release from NC Lottery. “And I bought two tickets. I didn’t win on the first one, so I tried the second and I scratched it off, and I fell to my knees at the gas pump.”
He had served 20 years as a nursery teacher
Camp had served 20 years as a nursery teacher, but in September he was fired off and now had to seek jobs at a car dealership. Despite his struggles, he told the NC Lottery that his friends and family were holding him strong.
Before winning the lottery he had been through a really tough time
“I just recently got employed at a car dealership auto sales centre,” he said. “I was a teacher for 20 years, a preschool teacher, and I got laid off on September 6. A month after that, my dad passed away. And it put me in a dark place. But I have a lot of friends and family that just told me to keep sticking in there, keep believing in myself.”
He has good plans for his family
Camp continued, as a father and grandfather, that he is thinking about setting his winnings away for his family, particularly acquiring a home and preparing for the education of his daughter.
"What I plan on doing with my winnings is having a future for my daughter,” he said.
He also plans to get a home for his family
“I want to get a home because I want to set it up for my family, my grandkids,” Camp added. “I want to have something for us. I never had anything, no one passed anything down, and that’s what I want to do.”
