High school prom is something that gives a person memories for a lifetime to cherish. It gives you a chance to live a fairytale for one day. Where you get a chance to get dressed up like a prince or a princess and you get the chance to ask your crush out. Well this is the reason this Virginia teen took his terminally ill grandmother to his prom as his date.

A teen from Virginia took his 92-year-old terminally ill grandmother as his prom date. Stephen Vigil, a junior at Stafford High School in Fredericksburg, decided to take his grandmother to his prom when he learned that his grandmother is suffering from pancreatic cancer and doctors have given her only 6 months to live.

Plus, Stephen also learned that his grandmother never got the chance to attend her prom at her time. Also, it seemed like a perfect birthday gift since the grandmother turned 92, just one day before the prom.

According to Stephen's mother she says, Stephen wanted something special for his grandmother. Something which they will cherish their whole lives. According to Stephen when he learned about his grandmother's illness he was devastated. He has considered his grandmother as his best friend since childhood. It was very hard for him to accept it.

So he came up with this idea of the prom date. Stephen then took special permission from his School principle and made his friends part of his plan. When he asked his grandmother out she was surprised and thrilled. Grandma Julia was even presented with tiara, sash, and flowers from teachers and students. And Stephen had the DJ play her favorite Elvis song "Can't Help Falling Love".

By the end of the night, Grandma Julia was literally in tears with all the love and warmth that she received from her grandson and everyone at the school. It truly made it one of the most memorable days of her life.
Stephen says that he wants to spend the rest of his grandmother's time making memories with family.
