Harvard scientists in this week's meeting of international HIV experts discussed the news of an Argentinian woman who has made a remarkable natural recovery from HIV. The research community is now working on replicating her case in the lab with the hopes that this case can be a breakthrough for millions of other people who are suffering from this deadly disease.

The science community is left amazed and bewildered by this Argentinian woman's self-recovery from deadly diseases like HIV.

The woman is the second person in medical history to cure the disease naturally and the scientific community reckons this opens a window of hope for millions of people globally who are suffering from his diseases.

The South American woman got diagnosed with the disease in 2013, and eight years down the lane the woman is virus-free.

This amazing recovery resembles the story of a woman from San Francisco who revealed that she cred from HIV naturally.

The amazing recovery case was discussed by a group of Harvard scientists at the meeting of international HIV experts this week.

Dr. Natalia Laufer, the patient's doctor, said (via The Times): "Finding one patient with this natural ability for functional cure [no virus that can reproduce] is good, but finding two means so much more.

"It means there must be more people like this out there. This is a significant leap forward in the world of HIV cure research. Upon diagnosis, her tests surprised us all."

It is believed by the researchers that the two people who made a remarkable recovery from HIV belong to the group called 'elite controllers.' These are the people who are HIV positive but they do not have active virus strain in their blood and this is despite the fact that they are not taking any antiretroviral medicines for the disease.

Scientists also say that elite controllers also have unique immune system cells that allow making excellent recovery however, generic studies have been conducted on these patients and they do not have any obvious mutations that suggest otherwise.

HIV spreads in the body through human DNA where it slowly replicates and creates havoc in the human body. However, in the case of elite controllers, the virus settles in the area of the genome where it does not do anything,

Professor Xu Yu, an HIV researcher from the Harvard Medical School, said:

"The level of functioning virus in these patients is at least 1,000 times less than a patient who is on HIV drug therapy."

At the conference of the Harvard scientists, the researchers discussed the recent case of an Argentinian woman and they shed more light on elite controllers and discussed that they will be using her outcome to check if they can replicate it at the lab.

If this experiment is successful then it can be a huge milestone in the field of medicine as this can cure millions of people who are struggling with this disease around the world.
