A pregnant elephant was murdered in cold blood in Kerala, India and the poor animal was killed after she was fed pineapple loaded with firecrackers. The pregnant mother kept on suffering in pain till her last breath and eventually died while standing in the river, alone. Incidents like these show how we have really failed as human beings and how empathy is a concept foreign to many now.
Artists Around The World Pay Tribute To The Pregnant Elephant Who Was Murdered By People Who Fed Her Pineapple Stuffed With Firecrackers

Just when you think humans cannot do any worse they stoop a new low every day. We are living through the times when we see death and misery around us only. This pandemic has already caused havoc and then the murder of George Floyd has sparked protests all over the world. Floyd's murder tells us one more thing, that even though humanity is going through worst because of this virus but humans never actually learn their lesson. They are dead set on destroying everything.
Going through all this, how can we neglect the issue of animal abuse. Every day our social media is filled with the stories of crazy people inventing new ways to hurt animals. Being so-called superior beings of this society, how do we let these atrocities happen. How do these people escape the law after committing these disturbing crimes?

Another heartbreaking incident recently occurred in Kerala, India. On May 27, a pregnant elephant died in excruciating pain after she ate a pineapple that was filled with firecrackers by the locals. The explosives went off in her mouth and the poor animal's jaw was injured badly. The pregnant animal tried to ease her pain in the river but there was not a single person who came forward to help her. She died a painful death standing in the river.
Speaks volumes of how humans are dead as a society and heroes probably exist in movies only now.
The irony is Kerala city of India is considered the most literate city of the country. Guess literacy and education do not guarantee empathy in humans anymore.

A spokesperson from the Kerala Forest Department told Sky News that farmers are known to put fireworks inside food and plant it on the edges of their fields to keep away wild animals.
The incident came to the public's attention when forest officer Mohan Krishnan, part of the team who attempted to rescue the animal, shared the story on Facebook.

"She trusted everyone. When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months," Mr. Krishnan said.
Officials say the wild elephant probably wandered out of the Silent Valley National Park (SVNP) in search of food. It is believed to have reached the Malappuram District, where the animal allegedly bit into the fruit stuffed with firecrackers.

Animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi said Malapurram is one of the most dangerous places for animals in the whole county. "It is a murder, Malappuram is famous such incidents, it is India's most violent district. For instance, they throw poison on roads so that 300-400 birds and dogs die at one time," she said, adding that an elephant is killed every 3 days in Kerala.
The elephant's tongue and mouth were so badly injured, she wasn't able to eat. "She didn't harm a single human being even when she ran in searing pain in the streets of the village. She didn't crush a single home," Mr. Krishnan added.

The elephant kept running here and there with pain and finally reached to Velliyar River where she kept her head partially underwater, thinking that maybe this will stop the pain.
The forest officer explained that two captive elephants were brought to lead her out of the river, but she wouldn't move. Eventually, she died while still standing in the water.
Officials took her back to the forest in a truck and cremated her there. So far, it isn't clear where exactly the animal got hurt.
Local authorities have registered the case and initiated a probe into the killing of the 15-year-old elephant. Two organizations announced money rewards to anyone who can provide information that would lead to an arrest.
While an investigation is being carried out, the horrifying incident has made its way globally through social media. People are shocked and heartbroken over how the pregnant mother bore the pain till her last breath and harmed no one but still, speculators only enjoyed her death.
