Billie Eilish addresses body image double standards, highlighting the unequal scrutiny faced by women compared to men. Despite deliberately choosing modest clothing, she emphasizes the refreshing lack of judgment when it comes to men's bodies.
Billie Eilish Says Men Don’t Face Criticism About Their Bodies Because ‘Girls Are Nice’
When it comes to body image, Billie Eilish has called attention to the double standard that exists in the A-list community.
It's no secret that women's bodies are scrutinized, discussed, and commented upon by society.
Global headlines appear if they have gained even a small amount of weight.
Does she have a child? Does she seem content? Will she continue to be with her partner?
Even while the tide is gradually shifting away from all that crap, female celebrities are still plagued by it.
Eilish refers to being a woman as "such a war" in an interview with Variety: “Especially being a young woman in the public eye. It’s really unfair."
Even though Billie is only 21 years old, she has spent the better part of five years as a well-known singer.
That implies that she has had to go through adolescence and the transition into womanhood while being observed by everyone.
She made a significant fashion change from her predecessors, who wore form-fitting clothing to draw attention to their bodies, by frequently dressing in loose garments during her ascent to stardom.
Billie claims that this was deliberate.
“I wasn’t trying to have people not sexualize me,” she told Variety. “But I didn’t want people to have access to my body, even visually.”
"I wasn’t strong enough and secure enough to show it."
When she was still trying to figure out who she was, she claimed she would have been crushed if someone had made remarks about her appearance.
However, having worked in the field for some time now, she has observed that men are not subjected to the same level of scrutiny.
She believes she understands why.
“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies,” she said.
“If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it!”
"Everybody’s happy with it. You know why?”
"Because girls are nice.”
"They don’t give a f**k because we see people for who they are!”
In addition to her signature baggy looks, Eilish now dons a few more form-fitting ensembles that she confidently sports in front of her 110 million Instagram followers.
She recently revealed a few views into her life via a photo dump, which included pictures of her dog and a close-up of her enormous new back tattoo, which consists of a series of abstract black lines that follow the curve of her spine.
