When two young brothers aged 5 and 7 didn't show at the school for almost a week, their teachers got worried

Two brothers started skipping school a lot which made their teachers worried about them. The school staff didn't get any note from their mother as well so they decided to look into the problem.

The worried staff called the police so they can look into the matter

On the other side, the kids' mother named Connie Taylor, 71 was in the process of officially adopting the two boys as the kids were living with her permanently as foster kids. 

The administration at the Forney Independent School District decided to call the police.

The boys pointed at their mother who was lying lifelessly on the floor

The police took immediate action and some officers went to Connie's home for a welfare check.

When the police arrived, the little boys opened the door and told the police about their mother not waking up.

The boys tried to call for help but couldn't unlock the phone

The boys told they tried to call someone for help from their mother's phone but it was locked. 

The tragic story shooked the officers who realized the woman wasn't passed out but unfortunately died. 

The kids had been fending for themselves ever since their mother died

The little boys were surviving on their own ever since their mother collapsed on the floor and departed the world. 

Since the boys were afraid to go outside alone and didn't have any friends in the neighborhood, they fed themselves and ate whatever was available.

The school teachers are being praised for taking action after noticing the boys' absense

The staff members are being praised by the local police who called them heroes for alerting them and saving the boys.
