How many colours are there in this offensively bright spiral pattern?

It may seem like a simple question, but the answer isn't nearly as straightforward.

That's because it is an optical illusion which tricks your brain into seeing colours that aren't there.

The Correct Answer is...

The correct answer is in fact three pink, orange and green.

But what about the blue, you ask?

The blue and green spirals are actually the same bright green colour, as shown in this close-up image.

The green and ‘blue' areas will have the same RGB code, R=0, G=255, B=150.

The brain-boggling optical illusion was created by Japanese professor of psychology Akiyoshi Kitaoka.

The Reason is:

The reason why we see the blue is because our brains process an object's colour based on surrounding colours.

NOTE: Because it is a jpg, a pixel-by-pixel analysis could vary slightly but they are the same to the eye.
