TV host Carol Vorderman claims that ever since giving up monogamy and embracing life with several partners, she has "never felt freer."

Prior to her 1990 marriage to Patrick King, the 61-year-old had already been married twice. She first wed Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986.

Despite having two children together, Vorderman and King divorced in 2000, and the former Countdown co-host subsequently stated that she did not share the belief that people should remain in the same relationship for their entire lives.

On This Morning on Friday, October 7, she spoke candidly about her opinions on relationships, stating: "Our mothers told us that we should marry when we were still 18 or 19 or 20, so we grew up with that convention that you should find one partner for life. My view is not quite like that."

Vorderman continued: "Half of the first marriages end in divorce, and nearly three-quarters of second marriages end in divorce. So I prefer to live my life in chapters."

She continued by saying that for the past decade or so, starting when she was "about 50," she has lived "a life which is much freer."

"I've never felt freer," she said. "So I have ignored the looking for one person and I have a number of what I've called 'special friends."

Vorderman stated that she doesn't "really want to marry again" or "live with a man again" and have to "look after him all the time" after her divorce from King.

"This is a time to break this nonsense taboo, which is a person should only be looking for one other person that satisfies everything in their life. That's hell," she argued.

Vorderman revealed that she is now dating a lot of men, adding that although they "don't know each other," they are aware that they are not alone.

"It's a very honest relationship," she said. "One of them has gone on for many more years than my marriage. Yeah, it's over 10 years. Another is seven. He's an astronaut. He rang me from the space station.”
