Casey Anthony was acquitted on murder charges in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee more than six years ago and is finally being left alone by people who see her in South Florida. The 31-year-old is even reportedly being asked out on dates.
Caylee was first reported missing by Anthony's mother Cindy, who told authorities at the time she had not seen the toddler in 31 days and that it smells like there's been a dead body in [Casey's] damn car.
Anthony was charged with murder and manslaughter and was thrown in jail for the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. There were more than 1,000 pissed off protestors outside the courthouse in Orlando, Florida.
Anthony was convicted of four misdemeanor counts of giving false information to a law enforcement officer.
Anthony's defense team said the girl drowned in an above-ground swimming pool and the girl's grandparents tried to cover it up. The defense also said Anthony was abused by her father and brother.
Anthony's mother, Cindy Anthony, told Chris Hansen on Crime Watch Daily in October that she believes her daughter is "mentally ill." Cindy said Anthony has seizures and thinks her daughter had one when Caylee died in 2008.
On December 11, 2008, Caylee's skeletal remains were found with a blanket inside a trash bag in a wooded area near the family home. The medical examiner mentioned duct tape as one reason she ruled the death a homicide but officially listed it as "death by undetermined means".
"Caylee would be 12 right now. And would be a total badass," she told the AP. "I'd like to think she'd be listening to classic rock, playing sports."
Multiple sources spoke with People last week about Casey in a story that revealed she was 'bored' with her life, 'has done very few projects' with her new photography business and that she met the man she is dating through her very small legal circle.
The Associated Press reported Anthony lives with Patrick McKenna, the lead investigator on her case. She works for him "doing online social media searches and other investigative work," the AP reported.
Sources close to Anthony told People magazine said, "Enough time has passed that she’s not as toxic as she used to be. She’s going out now and then. She’s got a circle of friends, and guys are paying attention to her again. Guys are even asking her out now.”
