In 2014, Bruce Dean was working at a convenience store in Tacoma, Washington. The shift began like any other work day, but things quickly took a shocking and disturbing turn.

A woman walked into the store and Bruce could tell she was in quite a panic. She appeared nervous and rushed before asking him for a piece of paper and pen.
The next thing Bruce knew, the unidentified woman passed a note to him across the counter.

"Can you call 911," she scribbled. She also wrote down her license plate number, "DV," signifying "domestic violence," and "Baby in car."
She hurried out the door and left her fate in the store clerk's hands. Thankfully, he trusted the woman was in some kind of danger and picked up the phone to call 911.

The sheriff's deputy was able to track down the vehicle using the license plate number she left for Bruce. And that's when the terrifying truth was uncovered.
The frightened woman was the girlfriend of a dangerous man and registered sex offender named Mark Valuckas. He had threatened to kill her and harm her child in the past. Following a violent and abusive attack, Valuckas told her to take a ride with him that day so he could "calm her down." Police found a baseball bat and knife inside the car.

When Valuckas and his girlfriend pulled into the gas station parking lot, he told her to go inside to pay for gas. She took the opportunity to try and get help from the man behind the counter and it worked.
Following the gas station incident, Valuckas was thrown in jail.

In the video, Dean is visibly shaken when a reporter describes the horrific events that took place before the woman in need walked into his store begging for help.
