The murderer’s former cellmate revealed that inmates laced Tustin’s food with salt similar to how she had abused little Arthur.

Investigation in their case had revealed high levels of salt in Arthur’s body. The number (34g) was so high that medics thought their equipment was glitching.

Professionals referred to their actions as the “medical definition of child torture” deducing that he had ingested 6 tablespoons worth of salt.

Arthur had been so weakened by the salt levels in his body that he had been unable to fight back or escape as Tustin physically assaulted him.

Prisoners, upon discovering this news decided to put her through the same things she had put the little boy through and started spiking her meals with high levels of salt.

Her previous cellmate Elaine Pritchard said, "Some of the things we did were cruel – but she was crueller to Arthur so she deserved it."

She also revealed that Tustin had lied about why she was in prison and simply said that it was due to child neglect.

"Emma hadn’t said anything about Arthur dying. She never mentioned him."

Pritchard said that she was often laughing and joked on the phone and only “felt sorry for herself” except for one occasion.

"One day she came back from a plea hearing and was upset, so I asked, ‘What’s wrong?’

“She said, ‘He didn’t look at me, Tom never looked at me’. That was the only time I saw her upset about anything.”

It was later that Pritchard discovered Tustin’s crimes when the latter had left her documentation in the cell. "We had a fight – it was me more than her. "I got angry because I’d read about how he had 130 bruises and I asked how she wouldn’t notice when she gave him a bath.

"She said she just used to give him a towel. I pressed the bell and said if the prison officers didn’t get her out then I’d be staying there a long time."

Tustin was then removed from the cell and placed elsewhere before other prison mates discovered the extent of her crimes.

Tustin had poisoned, isolated and starved the 6 year old before his eventual death due to the trauma of having his head banged on the wall repeatedly.

When the child’s body was recovered, he had 93 injuries and 130 bruises across his head, legs, arms and torso.

Tustin had attempted to hang herself before the trial in an attempt to escape punishment. She was also pregnant at the time and terminated the pregnancy later while she was in custody.

Justice Mark Wall called the case, "without doubt one of the most distressing and disturbing" he has ever dealt with.”

"This cruel and inhuman treatment of Arthur was a deliberate decision by you to brush off his cries for help as naughtiness."

He addressed Tustin and added, "You are a manipulative woman who will tell any lie, and shift the blame onto anyone, to save your own skin."

Tustin had later refused to attend her hearing and face justice for her crimes.
