College Student Had Legs Amputated After Eating Friend's Leftover Takeaway From Fridge

The young man, who has only been identified as JC in the New England Journal of Medicine, lost his legs to sepsis after eating a leftover chicken takeaway from a friend's fridge from a night before.

Reportedly, he ate the chicken and noodle dish that his friend had bought from a restaurant the night before and immediately became ill.

According to the journal, the young man began to suffer from high temperature and his heartbeat rose to 166 beats/min by the time he was rushed to the hospital to be sedated.

The medical records elft the doctors baffled as they realize that he had no allergies and had all his childhood vaccinations covered and rarely drank alcohol. Though, he did smoke two packs of cigarettes each week and marijuana daily.

However, his condtion only worsened and he was flwon by a helicopter to another hosptial to get necessary medical treatment.

The report said: “The patient had been well until 20 hours before this admission when diffuse abdominal pain and nausea developed after he ate rice, chicken, and lo mein leftovers from a restaurant meal.

“Five hours before this admission, purplish discolouration [sic] of the skin developed, and a friend took the patient to the emergency department of another hospital for evaluation.”

The medical reports later confirmed the worst and that JC was suffering from an aggressive bacterial infection that made his kidneys fail and his blood began to clot.

The bacteria in his blood results came back positive for Neisseria meningitides which is a form of life-threatening sepsis.

Further medical investigation found that the student got infected by the bacteria through his saliva and he had missed a booster jab for the meningococcal vaccine which he was meant to get at the age of 16.

He developed aggressive gangrene on tissues of his fingers and legs down to his feet resulting in the amputations of parts of all of his fingers and below-knee amputations.

It was in his luck that he survived this scary medical ordeal which has already been branded a "freak accident" by YouTube doctor, Dr. Bernard.
