Having had divorced parents, I know what it’s like to watch your parents start dating again. It’s a tad thrilling when you’re younger… until it’s not. You meet their dates and think about how they could fit into your life. But then, the minute you get even a little attached to anyone, they’re running for the door! These people are constant reminders that your parents won’t be getting back together. Womp!
Here are a few confessions from kids whose parents have started dating again. Whether their parents are single through choice or divorce or loss, these kids have some feelings about this new dating thing.
#1 Too soon? When is the right time to start dating after something like this?
#2 Your mom deserves some happiness too!
#3 That’s one way to look at it. Another way is to be happy for him and make the situation work.
#4 It’s hard to let someone in if you think they’ll be gone that soon.
#5 In the meantime, ask for all the free stuff you can! 😉

#11 It’s a hard concept to grasp that there is enough love to spread around.
