1. One of Criss’ famous tricks is when he goes to the beach and spreads a blanket out on the sand and then a girl appears under it; then Criss runs away and magically appears under a second in a matter of seconds.

This is how he does it: when the first blanket is spread out, the camera is lowered to the ground so it’s hard to see what’s happening. Criss takes advantage of that moment and as soon as that happens, his assistant runs closer and crawls under the blanket.

He then has another assistant hiding behind him dressed like him. When the blanket is lifted again, Criss is out of sight, and that’s when the switch occurs.

2. Criss’s most famous illusion is the one where he levitates between buildings. This is only possible thanks to thin cables that he attaches to his back. The reason you can’t see them is because of the bright sky and the camera angles.

3. Another famous trick of his is the one where he ties a solid chain around his neck and gets volunteers to pull both ends at the same time. Though it looks like the chain magically passes through his neck, in reality there are two ropes.

Criss creates a fake loop behind his neck that he covers with his long hair, that way nobody can see that it’s not one, but two ropes.

4. Another one of his tricks is when he pretends to walk on water. He does this in public pools and a swimmer usually goes underneath his feet to prove it’s not a gimmick. He crosses the entire pool and only his shoes get wet.

However, it’s all an illusion as he uses a number of plexiglass tables and camera angles that don’t pick up on the clear plexiglass. The person that swims underneath him swims in the gap between the plexiglass. Clever, right?

5. He’s also extraordinary at making things disappear. He has this trick where he makes a spoon disappear in front of his audience’s eyes.

How does he do this? Easy. He gets his assistant to touch the spoon to make sure it’s real. The assistant is also the one that takes it out of the napkin.

6. Have you seen his trick where he vanishes into thin air while standing on a table? He pulls this off by using mirrors.

All he does is jump off and hide behind the mirror. And you know the audience members watching him in the videos? Yeah, they’re hired actors.

6. He has another illusion where he gets a woman to lie down on a park bench and asks two volunteers to hold her arms and legs. When they pull in different directions, the woman’s body splits into two!

The trick? He hires two women, one with the lower part of her body missing and a contortionist who provides the legs!

7. Another one of his impressive tricks involves a deck of cards. He asks a volunteer to cut it and mark the cut. Then, another volunteer takes a look at the card on the top of the deck and Criss is able to name the card. Every. Single. TIme.

So how does he do it? The magician shuffles the card and takes a look at the top card. He reshuffles the deck in a way that keeps the card at the top, so when the volunteer cuts the deck and marks it, Criss already knows what card it is.
