Is it just me, or is food becoming more expensive these days? Takeout options that used to be affordable are now unfortunately quite costly.

Over the past year, the cost of living in the United States has surged significantly due to the sharp increase in inflation, leading to soaring prices for both energy and food.

However, there was one thing Americans believed they could count on, which was an inexpensive meal at McDonald's.

Surprisingly, that might not be the case, as suggested by TikToker Christopher Olive.

In a video posted last year, the aspiring strongman showcased his recent purchase from McDonald's, which included a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, a large order of fries, and a Sprite.

Now, when considering what might be considered a fair price for this meal, it's safe to say it's certainly pricier than a Happy Meal.

However, just a couple of years ago, you would typically anticipate that a single meal like this wouldn't cost more than $10, if not even less.

"Sixteen dollars for a burger, a large fries and a drink. It's just crazy."

With nearly 180,000 views as of the current time, the video has garnered thousands of comments from the online community, and it seems that people have varying opinions.

Some individuals find the $16 price tag for a burger meal quite exorbitant and express their frustration.

However, on the flip side, it's important to consider that every stage of the supply chain has been affected by soaring costs, contributing to these high prices.

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: "Five Guys prices at McDonald’s?!?" To which Christopher replied: "It's crazy."

Another said: "It’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore, might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat."

"I make a lot more of my own food these days because of stuff like this," added a third, with the TikToker replying: "Exactly. I eat 90 percent from food I cook and this really shocked me."

But not everyone agrees, with some suggesting he opted for the most expensive item on the menu.

"Bro ordered the most expensive meal they have and acted surprised," wrote one, while another said: "Because you got DOUBLE DELUXE BACON quarter pounder, literally the most expensive option on the entire menu."

And then there were those who suggested ways for McDonald's lovers to save money, including this person who explained: "Download the app. You can literally eat McDonald’s for under $6 every time."

A second chimed in: "Use the McDonald’s app, sometimes they have a 50% off and other offers."
