Dad Tutors His Kid For A Year, Breaks Down After The Boy Scores 6/100 On Math Exam

Breaking down in tears is a pretty natural reaction to have when something you've worked so hard on ends up all for nothing.

A father in China was hopeful that his son would pass exams with flying colors with his tutoring and guidance for a year.  But to his dismay, his son flunked the math exam.

A video of the father bitterly weeping went viral after the reason behind his anguish became apparent –  his boy came home with a 6/100 score on the final exam.

The video which was posted to Weibo has since gotten over a million views, owing to the hilarious nature of the whole incident, with the wife even heard laughing behind the camera as she documented her husband's frustration at achieving the exact opposite of what he set out to do months ago.

It was revealed that the man – who lives in the city of Zhengzhou, Henan – had been staying up late to provide his kid math tuition nearly every day for the past year. Making matters worse, it was also reported that the man had tried to help his son find more consistent results. 

He'd previously been scoring anywhere between 40 or 50 marks all the way to 80 or 90 marks, even. But with the kid returning a measly score of six on the final paper, the disappointment became too much to handle for the tired dad.

"I don't care anymore, my efforts have been wasted," the man said while sobbing in the video. "Let him struggle by himself."

There were plenty of comments by amused netizens on the video, many of whom felt sympathy towards the dad for having to face one of the absolute banes of parenting – crappy academic results.

On the other hand, some even said that getting a 6/100 score was a ridiculously low score to get, and perhaps was a reflection of the dad's lack of math prowess and teaching skills.

A third opinion was that the exam results could have been a form of protest by the boy, who might have become quite fed up of his dad's teaching methods.

Whatever it is, hopefully both the kid and father can eventually learn from this incident, and possibly do better when the next exam rolls around. Or not, because exam scores aren't the only things that matter, anyway.
