A father in California announced that he has won full custody of his 4-year-old son after a long legal fight with the boy’s mother.

She allegedly made the child wear dresses and glitter because she wanted to raise him as non-binary.

Harrison Tinsley shared with "The Daily Signal Podcast" that he won the lengthy court case and now has full physical custody of his son, Sawyer.

He described the victory as feeling like a “miracle.”

Tinsley said the 4-year-old “adamantly expresses” that he is a boy, and gets upset at suggestions to the contrary. GiveSendGo

“I know he’s a boy. He wants to be a boy. He adamantly expresses that,” Tinsley told host Virginia Allen. “If you say anything to the contrary he gets very upset.”

Tinsley claimed that Sawyer’s mother, who he said identifies as a lesbian and non-binary, attempted to impose her gender beliefs on the child from the time he was a baby.

Tinsley alleged that this involved a harsh campaign of gaslighting, including using they/them pronouns for Sawyer despite his objections, and making him wear girls' diapers, dresses, and makeup.

On a GiveSendGo page where he was raising funds for his legal battle, Tinsley recounted his initial excitement upon discovering that his then-girlfriend was pregnant in 2019.

“Unfortunately that excitement turned to pain when his mother, who suffers from serious underlying mental health problems, abruptly ended our relationship and prevented me from seeing Sawyer,” he wrote.

After struggling for a year in California's progressive court system, Tinsley finally met his son when Sawyer was 15 months old.

However, Tinsley claimed that Sawyer's mother’s focus on gender issues intensified, and the boy continued to face various manipulative tactics.

“She threw Sawyer a girly themed party for his second birthday where she made him wear a dress donned with a sheriff’s badge,” Tinsley told the outlet.

In one instance, Tinsley alleged that Sawyer’s mother took him to Disneyland but wouldn’t let him go on any rides unless he wore the princess shoes she had bought for him.

After discovering that Sawyer’s mother had been arrested for felony child endangerment, Tinsley sought full custody in San Francisco Superior Court last year, accusing her of “slandering and defaming” him for years.

The specifics of the arrest and the incident are not clear.

Tinsley said he provided the court with extensive evidence, including eight hours of police bodycam footage and over 800 pages of documents.

Despite this, he claimed the court sided with Sawyer’s mother.

Tinsley appealed the decision last December and claimed that Child Protective Services in San Francisco got involved after an alleged “incident,” which he chose not to detail further.

According to Tinsley, CPS investigated and then recommended that he be awarded full custody of the boy, while the mother should undergo regular drug and alcohol testing.

Tinsley acknowledged that the investigators likely had different political views than he did but expressed gratitude for them “putting politics aside and doing what they felt was best” for the child.

His mom tried to paint me as some right-wing hillbilly from Mississippi or something even though I had nothing to do with the investigation,” he told the outlet.

“And that shouldn’t matter anyway, of course, but in reality I’m just some California dude with long hair and skinny jeans, so that’s ridiculous to make that up about me.”

Tinsley describes Sawyer as his “best friend” and “the most amazing, greatest blessing” of his life.

Now that Sawyer is back with his dad, he can focus on being a regular kid without anyone trying to impose ideological beliefs on him.

“Kids don’t care about sex or identity or all of these fake weird concepts, they just care about having fun and spending time with their parents.”

The reports did not name Tinsley’s ex. Efforts to contact the lawyer listed as representing her in the court case were unsuccessful on Wednesday.
