While everyone got excited about the idea of finally having a woman leading the world's most powerful country, here are some things that you might not know about Hillz.
#1
Hilary Clinton has been a central figure in American politics since her husband Bill became Governor of Arkansas in 1978. Since then she's been an attorney and consultant on children's rights issues, First Lady of the US, the first female Senator for New York and Secretary of State.
#2 She used to be a Republican
Growing up in Illinois with a staunchly conservative father, Hillary Rodham was an active young Republican. During her first year of college she was even elected president of the Wellesley Young Republicans Club.
But despite starting college on the right-hand side of politics, Hillary left a few years later as an "anti-war Democrat whose public rebuke of a Republican senator in a graduation won her notice in Life Magazine as a voice for her generation."
By the spring of 1968 -with the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements raging around America, 21 year-old Hillary volunteered for Democrat Eugene McCarthy's presidential campaign. Her transition was complete *rubs hands together*.
#3 She hasn't driven in 20 years
Hanging your arm out the driver's window with the stereo cranking and the wind in your hair is just one of the casualties of public office.
Hillary Clinton hasn't driven a car herself since 1996, around the same time she was living in the White House alongside her husband, President Bill Clinton.
#4 She's always loved the pantsuits
In her Twitter bio, Hillary Clinton describes herself as a pantsuit aficionado and is well-known for rocking the look during her time as Senator. However, the pants thing goes way back to college, where Clinton wore an orange pants outfit instead of a dress to a fancy dance.
#5 She won a Grammy
HRClinz - AKA Hillary Rodham Clinton - took out the 1997 Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for her book It Takes a Village. As badass as it sounds, this Grammy category covers non-musical recordings and four US Presidents have also won the award for their books.
In her acceptance speech, Hillary hinted that if her husband worked on his saxophone skills, she might not be the only Clinton to pick up a Grammy. He must have taken the comment seriously: he picked up the same Grammy award in 2005.
