Periods are just a part of life when you are a woman. Every person with a vagina is visited once a month by their dreaded Aunt Flow and have to go through Shark Week without killing anyone. Not only do our vaginas cause us to deal with the tortures of bleeding for a week straight, but PMS can cause us to snap at the drop of a hat or cry at the sight of a cute kitten picture on social media. Many times we spend our grocery budget for that week on chocolates and spend our days cuddled up to a hot water bottle.
Disgusted Woman Finds Out Her Husband Has Been Using Her Menstrual Cup As A Kitchen Utensil

Even though periods are a common occurrence, they are still quite a taboo subject. Just recently, companies have started using red liquids in their menstrual product ads instead of the blue liquid. Imagine all the little girls growing up thinking that their periods would be blue and how shocked they were when they realized the whole truth about their periods.

There are tons of contraception products that help ease our monthly visitors time of stay, but most people rely on sanitary napkins and tampons to get them through the week. There is also, usually, a ton of Motrin and hot water bottles involved to ease the pain.

Perhaps one of the most frustrating thing about having a period is that, menstrual products can get expensive even though they are very necessary. Sanitary products also create a lot of waste as well as burn a hole in your pockets. Thankfully, a solution has come along in the form of the menstrual cup or diva cup.

The diva cup is a small plastic cup that helps women save on sanitary products since it is reusable and reported to be a much healthier option. Since this is a fairly new product, a lot of people still do not know what it is.
The diva cup is inserted into the vagina to catch the monthly flow. When full, it is removed and the blood is poured right down the toilet. After, it is cleaned and then reinserted until the period is finally over. However, Cindy Hobbs found that her husband has re-purposed her diva cup.

Menstrual cups are usually kept alongside other feminine hygiene products in the bathroom, but Cindy's husband got a hold of hers and made the assumption that it was just a plain old cup that could be used as a kitchen utensil. Gross, right? Had he known what it was really for, he would never have put it near any food or even touched it for that matter.

Cindy realized what happened when she found her diva cup sitting inside a bag of rice and immediately texted her husband to find out why. Even though she clearly used the word 'menstrual,' he was still utterly clueless.

However, misusing a menstrual cup is not the worse thing that could happen. There is one woman who got her diva cup stuck in her vagina. The anonymous woman on Reddit recounted her harrowing tale explaining how every diva cup user's nightmare had happened to her. The situation was so bad that she had to enlist the help of her boyfriend to get it out of her.
"Apparently, I had a VERY high cervix, and this cup had shimmied its way as deep inside of me as an item could go," she wrote. "My cervix (and this cup) was so high that when I put my fingers inside of myself to take the cup out, my tiny baby fingers only grazed the tip of the stem."

"To make matters worse, I have a heavy flow. While the average girl bleeds less than 30ml of blood in her entire cycle, I was bleeding 30ml every few hours. So now, my bathroom was starting to look like a murder scene as I was trying my hardest to reach INTO myself and fish this cup out, splattering blood with every twist."
"Some people recommended 'birthing' the cup," she continued. "Others said to take a warm bath or shower, to relax my inner muscles. Yeah, no. I was just wet, bloody, sore, and frustrated."

The poor woman was in a state of blind panic and enlisted her boyfriend to help her out of this situation. "It was now a two-person effort," she wrote. "In the most non-sexual and clinical manner, I stood bottomless in front of my partner. We discussed a plan of action. I braced myself against his shoulders and spread myself as wide as I could manually."
"He had two fingers in me, barely grasping at the slippery silicone. I started bearing down, pushing, using my last amounts of energy to conceive this awful contraption from me. THIS THING WAS COMING OUT EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST THING I EVER DID."

Thankfully, he was able to remove the diva cup from her vagina. I don't know what the rest of you are thinking, but I say that boyfriend deserves a medal for what he did to help her. But, not all funny stories about periods have anything to do with diva cups. Check out this video to hear this woman's story.
Oh and for those of you wondering how Cindy's diva cup even ended up in the kitchen, to begin with, her toddler had found it and left it on the kitchen counter.
