Money is tight for a lot of us, and there are things that we just need, but they are not affordable at the time. Some of the things we want are also hard to come by. We even have noticed that some of these so-called luxury items are made from some pretty basic and cheap materials. That is when we flock to Pinterest to see if we can DIY some of these items. Here is a list of must-have items that you can make from the comforts of your own home.

This spa-like bathtub shelf.

Don't you just feel spoiled by looking at this? It is so easy to make. You can pick up a piece of wood from your local hardware store, stain it, and lay it across the walls of your bathtub. If you have some experience with woodworking, you can make it even fancier.

These adorable mason jar magnet frames.

Did you know that mason jar lids are magnetic? This project is the perfect way to use up some of those old lids you have laying around. You just need scissors, glue, and those spare lids. Glue your favorite pictures to the inside of your old lids and stick them to your refrigerator.

This coffee table made of wooden crates.

You can find these wooden crates just about anywhere. Your local arts and crafts stores even carry them. Then all you need is some wood stain and to do some securing, and you have a one of a kind coffee table that is guaranteed to be a conversation starter.

This really simple but super cute hanging shelf.

Hooks, rope, and a wood shelf are all you need to put this kind of hanging shelf up. It is not only super easy to make, but it adds a little chic to your home.

This viral chunky throw blanket.

You do not have to spend a small fortune on one of these blankets. You can make it from home. All you need is your arms and some chunky yarn. The yarn is a bit pricey, but making your own is still way cheaper than buying one online.

These homemade pop sockets.

These pop sockets are made from water bottle tops and are super simple to make. Even better, you can make your own designs. Then, you can keep them for yourself or pass them out to your friends.

These decorative bulb lights.

These ball lights are perhaps the most simple things to make. All you need is a string of Christmas lights and a box full of ping pong balls. You just cut little holes in the balls and push them on over the lights. Ta-dah!!

These picture frame lanterns.

We live in a digital age, so there is not much use for photo frames. You can repurpose yours by turning them into lanterns. All you need is a little glue, paint, and some imagination.

This bookshelf made from wooden crates.

In case you have not noticed, but wooden crates are absolutely perfect for so many DIY projects. These bookshelves can be as tall or wide as you like. Just grab some wood stain that matches your decor, and you can make these in a day.

These geode bath bombs.

These bath bombs are gorgeous and you can make them right at home. All you need is some Epsom salts, food coloring, coconut oil, cornstarch, citric acid, and rubbing alcohol. You can even add some of your favorite essential oils for a relaxing scent.

These spring-inspired room sprays.

These room sprays are super easy to make, and they can be tailor-made with your favorite scents. Most ingredients call for water, fragrance, and vodka, but you can add all kinds of things like essential oils and herbs to your recipe. Not only will they smell amazing, but you always know what is inside your spray. You do not have to worry about the ingredients that you find in most expensive sprays.
