#1 Some doctors are now confessing to intentionally diagnosing healthy people with cancer to make money.

Some doctors break the code of conduct that has been put into place, especially in the United States where medicine is big business, and, because of this, have falsely diagnosed people with cancer in order to make more money.Dr. Farid Fata, who practices out of Michigan, is the most recent doctor to confess to this crime.

#2 Chemotherapy drugs

Over a year ago in court, Dr. Fata admitted that he intentionally and wrongfully diagnosed healthy patients with cancer. He also admitted that he gave those patients chemotherapy drugs for the sole purpose of making a profit.

When a patient is diagnosed with cancer, doctors receive a kickback from their insurance company when they undergo chemotherapy.

This means that doctors receive a lot more money than they would have otherwise done

#3 Do you think his patients were shocked?

Absolutely they were. No one would ever suspect a doctor to stoop so low to fake a diagnosis and also have the nerve to give medication for that fake diagnosis so they can make a profit. Many would call this kind of act unconscionable.

Therefore, it’s not just patients who are losing out as a result of false diagnoses, but everyone else, as the insurance companies have been billed millions of dollars for unnecessary medical treatments, making the cost of insurance higher.

#4 Former Michigan doctor, Farid Fata, orchestrated one of the largest health care frauds in US history.

In 2013, he confessed to intentionally diagnosing people with cancer when he was fully aware that they were healthy.Retired Oncologist Dr. Sayed Mohammed says he noticed this trend about a decade ago, “Many of these unscrupulous Physicians are like businessmen without a conscience. The only difference is they have your health and trust in their hands–a very dangerous combination when money is involved.”

#5 Dr. Fata’s fraud

Dr. Fata’s fraud ultimately resulted in a staggering $35 million worth of unnecessary cancer treatments..He falsified medical documents to make it appear as though the patients in his care were genuinely suffering from cancer.

U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said that she will be doing everything in her power to see that Fata gets life in prison for his actions. She is calling his case “the most egregious” health care fraud case her office has even seen.

#6 Dr. Fata’s crimes

The government came forward and stated that Dr. Fata had a patient list of 1,200 people and received $62 million from Medicare; his final bill total for the government was over $150 million.Seven hundred and thirty-five victims of Dr. Fata’s crimes have now filed for compensation, but unfortunately, they have been denied restitution.

When Dr. Fata took the stand and named all the drugs he prescribed, all he could do is mutter these words “I knew it was medically unnecessary.” Did he feel bad for what he did? Who knows. Does he regret what he did? Only he can answer that. The only thing we can take from this case is that there is a giant crack in the health care system.
