Talking to adult star Asa Akira on the Pornhub podcast, Dr. Andrew Steinberg – who specializes in studying and treating urinary disorders – lifted the lid on the average amount of time men typically last in the bedroom.'

The duo discussed the topic of premature ejaculation, and Dr. Steinberg differentiated this from simply finishing sex a little early.

“Most of the guys that come to see me with premature ejaculation, they can barely penetrate without coming… So it’s usually less than one to two minutes,” he explained.

Comparing this time frame to a typical man, the difference was a little shocking.

“We have to manage expectations, because the average man will come in about eight minutes of penetration,” he added.

Asa – who has filmed her fair share of adult scenes – was shocked, responding: “Eight minutes is the average? That’s actually more than I thought. I thought the average would be like four minutes.”

The conversation then turned to discussing how the issue of premature ejaculation can be resolved.

“Sometimes I’d convince them to go to a sex therapist, sometimes that can help,” the doctor suggested.

Otherwise, Dr Steinberg acknowledged that training, through starting and stopping, can help to prolong sexual encounters.

The sex expert also suggests using “creams or sprays” that can help to numb the penis slightly.

“The most common and effective one is antidepressants… This came about because men who were on antidepressants who don’t have premature ejaculation, sometimes they have delayed ejaculation,” he added.

As mentioned on the NHS website, the medicine needs to be taken for 1 to 2 weeks before its effects are seen.
