#1 The stomach-churning moment shows dozens of live maggots were squeezed from the flesh of a dog by a stunned vet.
#2 The vet starts to slowly squeeze the animal’s flesh.
And as if from a crazy horror movie, dozens of maggots appear.

#3 After the vet removes them, he squeezes the skin once again - and yet more writhing maggots continue to appear.
#4 The process is repeated by the vet several times in different areas of the dog’s body.
The metallic container nearby is then filled with maggots wriggling about.

#5 By the end of the one-minute video though, no more maggots are coming out of the dog's skin.
Viewers can hope that the dog's unfortunate condition has now been cured.

#6 Maggots are larvae that form in the tissues of animal hosts.
After they hatch, these larvae can enter the animal’s body through an opening, such as a skin wound, mouth, ear, or nose, and settle into the tissues and continue their life cycle.

#7 If your dog has been infected with a botfly within his tissue, he will exhibit certain symptoms. Symptoms of a botfly infestation are:
Lump or bump on the skin
Scratching or licking of the area
Small hole in the middle of the lump
Swelling
Skin abscess

#8 This infestation is called myiasis, which happens when the larvae of flies infect a live being and then grows inside.
The can feed on the flesh of creatures for 3 to 5 days.

#9 It's not only animals who can suffer from myiasis though - humans can also become infected.

#10 They can also be found in food - as one horrified woman discovered earlier this month when she found maggots in a box of chocolates.

#11 The video has definitely garnered a lot of reactions from online users, it has now been shared over 300,000 times.
