Ellen DeGeneres Says She's Quitting Hollywood And We 'Won't See Her Again'
Ellen Degeneres has confirmed she is quitting Hollywood, and says we 'won't see her again'.
Following her performance on the last leg of her current comedy tour, the comedian and longtime talk show host has stated that she will be leaving Hollywood.
Ellen DeGeneres is now performing on her stand-up tour, Ellen's Last Stand. Up., which will be captured on camera and made available as a Netflix special.
During a post-show Q&A, she was asked if she planned to continue making movies after her stand-up tour.
She said: “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
In response to a question about whether she would play Dory again in Pixar's Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, she stated: “No, I’m going bye-bye, remember.”
One of the most watched shows in the US at one point was The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which DeGeneres hosted for nearly 20 years.
During the tour, the stand-up comedian has been using the opportunity to address accusations of wrongdoing from the show's set against her.
These claims, which included everything from bigotry to sexual misbehavior to intimidation, led to the termination of the talk show.
Ultimately, DeGeneres apologized live, saying as much: "I take this very seriously and I want to say I'm so sorry to the people it affected."
"I learned that things happened that should never have happened."
"If I've ever let someone down, if I've ever hurt their feelings, I am sorry for that."
Three executives at Warner Media were ultimately fired for their roles in the incident after an internal probe into the claims.
In an interview, DeGeneres stated: “Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me."
“I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
"I am a strong woman. I am many things, but I am not mean.”
DeGeneres claimed on the previous show that the way her show concluded was "hurtful."
She said: "I just thought, ‘Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it’s ending.’ … I just hated the way the show ended."
“I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.”
August 17 is the last day of DeGeneres's tour, after which she will presumably disappear from the public eye.
