Elon Musk Reportedly Had Affair With Google Co-Founder's Wife Which Led To Their Divorce

According to individuals close to them, Elon Musk dropped down on one knee to ask Sergey Brin for forgiveness at a party earlier this year after the Google founder discovered Musk's affair with his wife and filed for divorce.

At Art Basel, a multi-day art event held in Miami in December of last year, Musk is rumored to have had a brief affair with Brin's lawyer wife Nicole Shanahan. Brin, who has a net worth of $95 billion and is the eighth-richest person in the world, was driven to file for divorce in January.

He gave the excuse of "irreconcilable differences," but The Wall Street Journal on Sunday claimed that Musk's relationship with Nicole marked the end of their marriage.

Miami hosted Art Basel from December 2 through December 4 of last year. Nicole and Sergey were already experiencing marital issues as a result of the stress of COVID-19, the Journal's sources claim. Their disagreement also involved how to raise their daughter, who is 4 years old.

It's unknown if Sergey attended Art Basel, but Musk, who had just finished his relationship with Grimes, was there and at one point was seeing Nicole.

Sergey filed for divorce a month later. He listed December 15 as the date of separation in the formal documents.

According to sources quoted by the Journal, Nicole is seeking $1 billion in her divorce settlement, which is less than her husband's $95 billion fortune but supposedly more than what he claims she is entitled to under the terms of their prenup.

According to the publication, she claims that he forced her into signing the prenup while she was still pregnant.

Musk is believed to have run into Sergey at a party following his divorce filing and pleaded for his pardon. He publicly accepted his apologies, but according to the Journal's sources, the once-close friends are no longer in regular contact.

It's unclear how long the relationship lasted, but it happened a month after Musk discreetly welcomed twins with a former executive from one of his companies, and in the same month that he had a daughter through surrogacy with his ex-girlfriend Grimes. In February, he began seeing his current partner, Natasha Bassett.

The latest love scandal to affect Musk, the affair, coincides with his current legal dispute with Twitter, which is detrimental to both the present and future of social media.

With $1.18 billion in sales, Twitter fell short of expectations due to all the controversy.

The corporation laid the blame on Musk's dramatic hostile takeover proposal and then abrupt about-turn on Friday.

'Twitter is on a rowboat in the middle of a storm. The Musk saga rocked the boat even harder. Twitter is now in the unenviable position of convincing advertisers that its ad business is solid,' analyst Jasmine Enberg said of the saga. 

The exact cause for the divorce was unclear when Brin filed for divorce in January.

He filed for divorce and stated that there were "irreconcilable differences," but he requested that the docket be sealed to protect his young daughter.

Elon and Sergey's friendship, which had lasted for years, came to an abrupt end as a result of the affair; in 2008, at the height of the financial crisis, Sergey invested $500,000 in Tesla.

Elon has also talked positively about staying at Sergey's residence. A daughter was born to Brin and Shanahan, both 37, in 2018.

They are battling to keep the divorce's terms quiet because of concern that their daughter will be subjected to "harassment" or "kidnapping," therefore the Google founder has asked to share custody of her.

Musk has not responded to the claims.

Brin is rumored to have several shareholdings in several of Musk's companies, all of which he has asked his staff to sell.

When the divorce proceedings were launched in January, Nicole told Puck: 'I hope for Sergey and me to move forward with dignity, honesty, and harmony for the sake of our child.'

'And we are both working towards that.'
