#5 Captain's Story Is Similar To The Story Of Hichiko

Captain's story is not the only heartbreaking story where a pet has mourned the death of their owner in such a grieving manner. One sad tale is of Hachiko, an Akita dog who is said to have waited at a Tokyo train station for its owner to return each day for nine years from May 1925, following owner Hidesaburo Ueno’s death at work.

Among these, the most famous tale is of is Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who allegedly spent 14 years guarding the Edinburgh grave of John Gray, dying itself in January 1872. However, in a recent study conducted by Cardiff University claims Bobby was a publicity stunt by local businesses to drum up tourist revenue using two trained dogs to ‘stand guard’ in the graveyard.
