A father who claimed his 6-year-old adopted was actually a 22-year-old adult ‘masquerading as a child’ lost his cool and broke down in tears while screaming and punching the floor in a new documentary trailer.
Father Who Adopted A 'Child' That Turned Out To Be 22-Year-Old Loses Control In A Burst Of Rage
Michael Barnett, and his ex-wife, Kristine Barnett, from Indiana, US, adopted Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born dwarf, in May 2010.
Recently, Michael, who was acquitted of neglect charges, grew emotional in the trailer of a new documentary, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, releasing in three parts on May 29. But he's warned that we might not like what we hear.
In a new documentary covering all the details behind the bizarre and harrowing case, the dad uncontrollably cries and punches the floor in a crazed fury screaming that his family were 'all abused' by her.
Suspicions began to arise when the couple alleged that Natalia exhibited violent behavior and made threats to their family's safety.
According to the parents, while they were living together in Lafayette, Indiana, Natalia made 'threats to stab' their children.
"She tried to poison and kill my wife," Michael continued, "one night, I opened my eyes and Natalia is standing at the foot of the bed with a knife in her hand."
Their biological son, Jake, also corroborated such claims, stating: "I definitely didn't feel safe around Natalia."
After going through such experiences the family began to grow doubtful of Natalia's identity, the couple then took Grace to a medical expert for a proper examination, and they were informed that she was a full-grown woman who was at least 22 years old at the time.
In 2012, the pair filed a petition in the court to legally change Natalia’s age from 6 to 22, changing her birth year from 2003 to 1989.
The petition was granted back in 2012, which legally changed Natalia's age from just nine years old to 23.
After learning the shocking truth about her, Michael and Kristine left Natalia in an apartment in Indiana in 2013 and moved to Canada with their kids.
But this was by no means the end to the ordeal as the Barnetts were subsequently landed with some pretty serious neglect charges for allegedly abandoning a child.
Michael and Kristine pushed back and instead claimed they were victims of fraud. Now, the traumatized couple is able to tell their side of the story and they haven't held back.
Recently, Michael, who was acquitted of neglect charges, grew emotional in the trailer of a new documentary, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, warned: "You're gonna get the truth. I will pre-warn you, you might not like the truth."
The footage shows the man wailing: "We were all abused! I hate this!"
He can also be seen in a state of distress, visibly shaken as he pounds his fists on the ground while sharing about the traumatic experience with his adopted daughter in the new trailer.
