Sun City Center, FL — An elderly Florida man hid the fact that his wife died by hiding her body in a deep freezer. He then proceeded to continue to collect her Social Security benefits for 8 years.
Margaret and Allan Dunn lived with each other in Sun City Center until 2002 when she died. It was then that he decided to hide her death from the government and continue to collect her SSI checks.

Over the years he collected over $90,000. When Allan died in 2010, police discovered his grisly secret. They discovered Margaret's frozen corpse in the freezer and alerted government officials. The U.S. Attorney's Office for Florida's Middle District made the announcement on Friday.

The Department of Justice says that Dunn stole $92,088 in benefits. Dunn's family was completely unaware of the scheme. They were required by the government to pay back the money he had stolen so they sold the only thing Dunn had of value, his condominium.

"After paying the back taxes, sales costs and amounts owed to the condominium association, the remaining sales proceeds of $15,743.14 were paid to the United States," the DOJ said. What a strange story indeed.
