Gigi Hadid, the queen of modelling may have looked stunning in her new Vogue Italia photoshoot with a dark skin tone, but the cover has sparked a controversy and apparently people are calling out the 23-year old for doing a racist shoot. Trying to control the damage caused by the scandal, Gigi has now addressed the issue.

#2 The Model Took To Instagram To Address The Issue

Gigi posted an Instagram picture in which the model could be seen heading back home after the shoot looking her natural self. In her apology to the public, the supermodel made it clear to the public that after the shoot her involvement in the editing part is none. So what happens to the pictures after the shooting, she has no control over it.

She wrote, "Please understand that my control of a shoot 1. is non-existent in terms of creative direction 2. ends completely when I leave to set, and anything done to a photo in the post is out of my control fully."

#4 The Idea Of Showing Her Differently Was Not Executed Rightly

Gigi also said in her post that a shadowed look can often be seen in pictures taken by photographer Steven Klein for the editorials. She said, the purpose of the shoot was to show her different in a creative manner, but unfortunately it turned out wrongly, "The bronzing and photoshop is a style that S.Klein has done for many years and I believe was what was expected from the shoot (to show me in a different way creatively)."

#5 The Concerns Regarding The Shoot Are Valid

Further adding to her post, Gigi has apologized to the public sincerely for giving out an unintentional wrong message through the photoshoot, "BUT, although I understand what Vogue Italia's intentions were, it was not executed correctly, and the concerns that have been brought up are valid."

#6 Gigi Hopes To Clear Up Any Sort Of Misunderstanding Related To Fashion Industry And Hopes To Be An Example For The Purpose

Clearing up the air around the misunderstanding, Gigi also pointed out in her post that over the years several situations in the fashion industry have been misinterpreted and taken in the wrong light and being a member of the industry it is their responsibility to acknowledge these issues and clear any sort of misunderstanding, "I want to address this for those who were offended by the editing/retouching/coloring of the cover. Please know that things would have been different if my control of the situation was different. Regardless, I want to apologize because my intention is never to diminish those concerns or take opportunities away from anyone else, and I hope this can be an example to other magazines and teams in the future. There are real issues regarding representation in fashion — it’s our responsibility to acknowledge those issues and communicate with them to work towards a more diverse industry."
