It was just a normal day for Kaloyan Pechevski. But when he pulled into an Illinois Citgo gas station, he uncovered what is thought to be a huge scam that is swindling average American commuters and drivers out of millions of dollars on a daily basis. If it wasn’t for one vigilante and his decision to catch the fraud on camera, we might not know that Citgo seemingly charges its customers for more than just gas.

Kaloyan Pechevski recently uploaded a video to YouTube.
It showed the gallon and money counter going up on a gas pump, while no gas came out of the nozzle.
The man continues to film and the total creeps higher and higher.
At no point does any gas come out.

The situation seems fishy, but it seems unlikely that this is an actual scam.
The money counter goes up so slowly that it calls a great deal of attention to itself.
The amount of money charged is not a large amount, but it adds up.
The man later went inside to complain to the manager.

The manager was not alarmed and simply said that the phenomenon happens every once in a while.
A YouTube commenter had a more enlightening explanation.

He said that he is a licensed fuel pump repair man, and the problem is something called creep.
Creep occurs when the pump is trying to mix a premium and a regular fuel to make a mid grade fuel. Something goes wrong with the mixing process and the total creeps up while no gas comes out.

The repair man said that the owner should be notified and they can have it fixed.
Here is the video. Decide for yourself if you think that this is a scam.
