Heroic Pit Bull Puppy Emerges From House Fire Carries Baby By Diaper
On 19th June 2018
A hero pit bull puppy saved a baby girl and her family from a nearby fire. Baby mother, Nana Chaichanhda said her dog Sasha was in the backyard of their Stockton home when she started barking in order to get their attention, Nana Chaichanhda was woken up by the dog’s relentless barking.
The dog was behaving strangely
Nana Chaichanhda opened the door to see why the dog was yelping and behaving strangely. Chai told KTXL."I open it, and she runs in and starts barking at me like crazy, and I was like, 'OK, this is weird. This is not like her."
Sasha wasted no time
Before she even realized her cousin’s building in her fourplex was on fire, Sasha wasted no time in pushing through the door and into the room of her seven-month-old daughter Masailah.
The dog grabs 7-month-old baby Masailah by the diaper.
By the time Chaichanhda arrived, Sasha was already trying to save the baby girl.
Chai told KCRA: "I ran into the room, and I see Sasha, She has my baby by the diaper, just dragging her off the bed – trying to get her to safety."
The mother then grabbed the pup and baby before calling 911.
Sasha and Masailah have a special bond, Chai told KCRA. "She's in her bed every day, They take baths together and everything."
home is now uninhabitable
Fire crews responded within minutes of the initial 911 call, and though the flames only reached her attic, Chaichanhda’s home is now uninhabitable.
Thankfully, no one suffered any serious injuries.
"(Sasha) saved everybody," Chai said. "Because if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think that any of us in this complex would have known anything."
"It meant a lot. I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed, and things could have taken a worse turn," she said.
According to the Sacramento Bee.
Sasha is staying with another family member while Chaichanhda, who is staying with her aunt, looks for a new place to live with her three young children.
Her sister set up GoFundMe page to help the family.
Her sister, Christine White, decided to set up a GoFundMe page in order to help the family in their current situation. Chai said, "She misses the kids and sleeping in their beds. I take the kids over there so Sasha doesn’t cry all day. It’s hard to answer the questions, 'Where are we going to live?’ and 'Are we going to be homeless?’ when I’m trying to figure that out as well, so right now we’re leaning on each other."
The Stockton Fire Department says the cause is still under investigation.
