TikTok comes to the rescue after employees spark backlash on new controversial shorts. The shorts which were designed to oversexualized employees were called out for endangering employee safety in the workplace.
Hooters Controversial Shorts Are Now Optional After Backlash
Hooters announced changes to their employee uniforms but were not prepared for the amount of controversy that the tiny outfits would bring.
Hooters is known for their skimpy outfits and bust waitresses but it seems they pushed the envelope too far when they made these glorified “underwear” and “panties” mandatory for every employee.
The employees however were not having it. Several of them immediately took to TikTok to show the shorts and compare them to the old ones, expressing their distaste for this policy change.
One said, “half the Hooters girls want to quit,”. The new shorts, when compared to the older outfits are significantly shorter and are much higher on the hip.
The TikToker that initially uploaded her complaints was also reached out to by the company CEO and told that she was free to wear the old shorts should she want to.
This is not the first time Hooters has been in hot water for their sexist policies and oversexualized uniforms. One server also filed a lawsuit after she was put on ‘weight probation’ for having gained a few pounds.
Not all TikTokers however were upset with the change with some saying that the new shorts brought them more money in the form of tips.
Hooters now says however that the shorts have been made optional and were being tested in various locations. “These uniforms have been worn for months in several Texas markets and have received overwhelmingly favourable reviews from both Hooters Girls and customers.”
They further added that employees could “determine which style of shorts best fits their body style and personal image.”
Some commenters simply had logistical questions.
While others wondered how sanitary this whole idea was.
