A barber was recently baffled to have an older male client walk into her studio and ask to have his hair dyed bright purple. However, she was later left jaw dropped to hear the incredible reason he wanted it done and when you hear it, you might do the same.

Katherine Rose Kenney works at Roosters Men's Grooming Center in Simsbury, Connecticut and will trim a guy's hair any way he wants. Proving just that, she had a client walk in who usually only stops by about twice a year but this time wasn't like all the rest.
As it turns out, the man had a piece of paper in his hands, and he was about to blow Katherine's mind when he showed her what was on it. Without warning, he opened the folded piece of paper and simply asked, "Can you make my hair this color?"

"I scanned the paper quickly and didn't see any images sticking out to me that I thought would be obvious," she later explained in a Facebook post gone viral. "There was a lot of purple text and bubbles so I asked him if that's the color he meant." As it turns out, this wasn't your average experimental customer. "It's for Alzheimer's," he said.
Luckily, Katherine has an "obsession with hair products" and happened to have the color on hand despite working in a barber shop. When she told him it was possible, the woman was left even more perplexed to see the man start jumping around in excitement.
"It was strange to me in a way, not because it made him so happy but I have never seen him so animated," she explained. "He was always pleasant, but he mostly answered any of my small talk or questions with a smile or head nod. He never told me too much about his family or life in general." However, things were about to take an incredible turn.

"How long do you want it to last?" Katherine asked the man. "Well, we have been married 47 years, so the longer the better," he answered with a light-hearted smile. As it turns out, the man's wife of nearly half-a-century had been diagnosed with and was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, so he wanted to raise awareness.
In short, Katherine's reason for her post was simple:
"So people of Connecticut, if you see an older gentleman walking around with vivid amethyst purple hair, realize that he IS trying to bring attention to himself, so he can bring attention to the cause. This is a man deeply devoted to the love of his life."
Alzheimer's disease can be a horrible thing, and anyone that has watched a loved one suffer from it would be the first to tell you. Not only do you watch as those you know slip away before your eyes, but there is currently no cure for it. Those wishing to help raise awareness can do so by heading over to the Alzheimer's Association Facebook page to change their profile picture and donate or you can dye your hair purple and wait for people to start asking questions.
