Amazing footage shows how a sniper made a one-in-a-million shot to blow a gun out of a man's hand without hurting him.

A white plastic lawn chair was left positioned in the center of a neighborhood junction in Columbus, Ohio, on August 16, 1993, by Doug Conley, then 37 years old.

The next thing that transpired was very disturbing; he pointed a 38-caliber revolver at his head.

Mike Plumb, a veteran of the Vietnam War and Columbus SWAT sniper was among the first law enforcement officers to arrive on the site.

At this point, you may be wondering why a guy sporting a sniper is positioning himself, but what followed was undoubtedly one of the most astounding feats of shooting ever seen on camera.

But before all of that, Conley and the police had been engaged in a two-hour standoff under the blazing August sun.

Conley started pointing the rifle toward himself as soon as it topped 90 degrees before he also pointed it at passing cars and police officers.

When he shouted that he wanted to see his ex-girlfriend, the police summoned Plumb to do some magic instead.

The veteran of the war crouched down under a pine tree 82 yards away, completely flat on his stomach.

Plumb locked upon Conley with the sight of his black Steyr SSG PII sniper rifle, manufactured in Austria.

It was pretty close to how this may have ended; police still refer to Plumb as a "bad dude," "good dude," and the "best dude."

No Columbus police sharpshooter had ever fired a shot while performing their duty before that fateful day in 1993.

And Plumb never considered pressing the trigger, not even when Conley came within the focus of his scope.

However, Swat leaders determined it was time for this to end because the stalemate had been going on for far too long.

The command was then given to Plumb: fire!

Plumb took a quick gulp from his drink, sat back in his chair, and prepared to fire the crucial shot.

With his left hand on his knee, Plumb moved the handgun between his legs and into Conley's crosshairs with his right hand.

The veteran of the war pulled the trigger, striking Conley's handgun squarely and shattering it into three fragments.

Conley was arrested by SWAT police after they tackled him without using any weapons.

Very impressive!
