A new study out of Reading University suggests that three glasses of the bubbly drink per week might just be the answer to preventing early stages of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It couldn't hurt to try it out, and besides, it will surely make you feel good!

The secret to champagne's benefits lies in the grapes. Champagne producers use pinot meunier and pinot noir varieties to make their high-end booze. Both of these grapes showed health benefits when tested on lab rats. In several cases, the rats were healthier and did not produce the chemicals in their DNA that may cause dementia in humans.

And aside from the cost, the Alzheimer's Society warns that there hasn't yet been enough research to establish a definite link between the fizzy wine and healthy cognitive functioning. Though hardly 3 glasses of the stuff will make you a drunk, it could not hurt to begin drinking the bubbly now if you are concerned with the onset of Alzheimer's or have a family history of dementia.
