Before homecoming, Grace and her boyfriend had a photoshoot in a sunflower field. Grace was extremely happy with the results as she posed in her princess Diana inspired dress.

“Homecoming was AMAZING! I had so many compliments on my dress, and it was our first homecoming since COVID, so they made it really nice and very special for all of the students! I made so many great memories, and the environment was just out-of-this-world amazing,”

Grace and her boyfriend Zach were excited by how well the pictures turned out and Zach’s mother decided to share that excitement with a Facebook group that she was a part of.

While the pictures became popular, the hate started pouring in as well.

“My boyfriend’s mom started telling me how the pictures had somewhere around 32,000 likes. She was talking about all the nice comments, and then she said, ‘And of course, there are the negative ones as well.’ My heart kind of immediately sank because I felt so confident about my appearance and attire that night, and I didn’t want that confidence I had to be in a way stolen from me. I have been picked on my entire life—my freshman year, I moved schools because it got so bad.”

Grace was surprised at the hate, especially the fact that it came from older women.

“They were all mothers and grandmothers. The only question I had was, Why? I didn’t see anything wrong with my photos, so why were there negative comments?”

As the comments came in, the negative ones were encouraged and kept getting worse.

One that struck a chord was that dressing like was an invitation to get r*ped.

“that based on the way I was dressed, I was asking to be raped.”

Others asked if her parents her seen her in that outfit.

Some of the older women insinuated that she was dressed like a prostitute, ignoring the fact that she was in fact, dressed as an actual real-life princess.

For some a simple black dress was 'ridiculous' and 'too much'.

Grace however was not going to sit back and take it and decided to reply to the woman who had made the comment about r*pe.

“As a victim of sexual assault, it just made my blood boil because clothes are not the reasons that men and women are assaulted.”

Grace said that her outfit was according to the rules set forward by her school and that it reached the end of her fingertips.

She also revealed that she was wearing shorts underneath since she takes this stuff seriously due to her background as a pageant girl and her involvement in sports.

Comments on TikTok came to her defence calling it 'Boomer Hate'.

Some had not even noticed the dress in the first place.

For others, the messages around bullying felt hypocritical when it came from older members of society.

Others began to notice the same pattern as well and wondered why older women felt the need to criticise children.

One commenter brought out a line that they've heard far too often and pointed it right back at the original naysayers.
