Lizzo has worked a cheeky reference to Sydney Sweeney into her newest song, after the actress’s American Eagle jeans campaign stirred up major online backlash and sparked debate.
The 37-year-old four-time Grammy Award winner gave a shoutout to the "Euphoria" actress in her fresh track, "I'm Goin' In Till October,", which she previewed for her 11.6 million followers on Instagram this Wednesday. Lizzo’s fans quickly caught on to the reference, with many pointing out how it tied into the recent chatter around Sydney Sweeney.
The "Truth Hurts" singer sported a pair of snug, light-wash denim shorts in the teaser clip. In the song, she brought up the 27-year-old actress, who has been in the spotlight ever since her jeans commercial aired — an ad that stirred controversy, with some online critics going so far as to claim it carried undertones resembling Nazi propaganda.

"No kizzy / He ain't got no business being with me," Lizzo raps in the verse, before following it with the cheeky line, "Fat ass pretty face with the t–ties / Bitch, I got good jeans like I'm Sydney."
"IM GOIN IN TILL OCTOBER 😤," she wrote in the caption alongside the video snippet.
In the short clip, the "Juice" hitmaker is seen rocking a sleek, long platinum blonde wig while playfully twerking against a striking red Porsche, keeping the vibe light and full of energy.
Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney found herself at the center of a viral conversation after starring in an American Eagle ad for the brand’s fall denim campaign.
The ad quickly became a trending topic, drawing both admiration and criticism online.
The "Anyone But You" star sparked a "woke" reaction from many social media users, who took issue with the ad’s "great jeans" pun — a playful phrase that some have suggested might carry racially insensitive undertones.

Since its debut, the commercial has fueled an ongoing discussion about how brands use wordplay, especially the campaign’s use of the phrase "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.", which has been interpreted in very different ways by the public.
In response to the swirling debate, American Eagle released a statement firmly standing by the ad and defending its original creative vision.

"This campaign is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her narrative. We will continue to honor the unique ways everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence," the company stated in defense of the campaign. "Great jeans flatter everyone."

The brand made it clear that their main focus was, and continues to be, on showcasing their fashion line rather than engaging with any other interpretations people might draw from the ad.
As for the "White Lotus" actress, she has chosen not to address the controversy publicly and has remained silent throughout the heated online discussions.

This all unfolded just days after former President Trump chimed in on the conversation, calling the ad "fantastic" upon learning that Sweeney is registered as a Republican voter.
"Oh, now I adore her ad … If Sydney Sweeney is registered, I think her ad is fantastic," Trump added over the weekend, making his stance on the matter clear.
