#1 While LulaRoe sells shirts, dresses, and other clothes, its signature products are the "buttery-soft" leggings, which retail for $25 plus tax.

The fashion brand LuLaRoe is officially being forced to face the hundreds of customer reports that their buttery-soft, signature leggings are just not cutting it.

After news surfaced last month of the leggings' tendency to rip just hours into a single wear — and the fact that the company reportedly wasn't refunding unsatisfied customers, earning them a resounding "F" with the BBB — LuLaRoe will have to answer these claims in court.

#2 Thousands of customers are complaining that their leggings are ripping after they wore them just once or twice...

The lawsuit, brought by two LuLaRoe customers, accuses the women's clothing brand of ignoring thousands of customer complaints about the quality of its leggings and knowingly selling defective merchandise that rips like "wet toilet paper" to enrich the company's top executives.

Plaintiffs Suzanne Jones, of California, and Julie Dean, of Massachusetts, two of many unhappy LuLaRoe customers, filed a suit against the company on March 23 — both bought LuLaRoe leggings, expecting that soft, Netflix-binge-ready fabric, but, instead, after receiving their leggings, alleged significant defects. Of the three pairs Jones purchased, she claims one was so small, it was "as if they were manufactured for a child," the lawsuit draft reads. The other two, she said, developed holes "when she pulled on the leggings with her fingers."

Dean expressed similar sentiments, outlined in the lawsuit. After wearing a pair of black leggings for a few hours, the leggings "developed tiny holes throughout." Another colorful pair "developed a hole so big, she could put her finger through them."

“Dropped my daughter off to school and felt a little draft but didn’t notice until I got home,” Paula Brown, who took the photo on the left, told BuzzFeed News. “Holes in knees, seams, and the behind.”

The lawsuit also mentions the thousands of other customers who are unhappy with their leggings, (there's a Facebook group, over 22,000 members strong, full of them). "Specifically, customers have complained that the leggings are of such poor quality that holes, tears, and rips appear before wearing, during the first use or shortly thereafter," it states. "The leggings have also been described as tearing as easily as 'wet toilet paper.'"

"Thousands of customers across the United States are now stuck with defective products because Defendants will neither issue refunds or make exchanges for customers and instead steer customers to the fashion consultants to deal with defective or damaged products," the lawsuit states. "Unfortunately for customers, Defendants will not make refunds to fashion consultants for defective products, and impose various barriers for exchanges. As a result, most fashion consultants will not take back defective products from customers."

#7 LuLaRoe said the claims in the lawsuit are "completely without merit."

“We categorically reject the fabricated and exaggerated claims of this suit in the strongest terms and believe it is completely without merit. We stand by the quality of our products and are committed to ensuring consumers are fully satisfied. We are confident we will be able to fully refute these allegations,” the statement said.

#8 According to the lawsuit, their return policy is unnecessarily sneaky and forces customers into buying new merchandise instead of getting a refund

The clothing company has grown rapidly over the last two years, with sales soaring an estimated 600% to $1 billion last year, according to another recent lawsuit that accuses the company of charging customers the wrong sales tax.

LuLaRoe doesn't sell any products in stores. The company relies on "consultants" to sell the clothing it makes at parties held in their homes. The number of consultants selling LuLaRoe products grown from 38,277 in September to nearly 80,000 today, according to data obtained by Business Insider.

Less than a year ago, women everywhere were praising LuLaRoe for creating the 'greatest leggings ever.' Now, the two plaintiffs are seeking damages for all products created after March 31, 2016.

#10 "Sat on a suede couch for a few hours bingeing on Netflix and this happened," customer April Etchart said of her leggings, on the left.

“Worn one time at home, never washed,” Erin Haralambis said of hers, on the right.

“One pair of leggings I received from a consultant covered in holes,” said Alana Taylor, a repeat customer of LuLa Roe who has had leggings literally rip apart on her while in public.

“My coworker, a male, told me my underwear was showing,” said customer Kristy Fogle. “The legging had ripped across my entire butt cheek. How embarrassing?! I now carry an extra pair with me at all times because I have had multiple rip on me, both [sizes]. It doesn’t matter size, where they are made, etc. The quality is abysmal. To charge $25 for something that is literally like cheap toilet paper is ridiculous to me.”

Other customers, like Ice’Shay Penney, said that her leggings, “disintegrated” within just a few hours of putting them on. If that sounds completely unacceptable, you’re not alone. There are now nearly 16,000 dissatisfied customers in a Facebook group called LuLaRoe Defective/Ripped/Torn Leggings and Clothes, and that includes some of the 72,000+ independent consultants who are also feeling uncomfortable selling defective products.

Another LuLaRoe customer, Lisa Barretta, complained that the sizing of the leggings was inconsistent. She claims that she’s worn a size medium in one pair and a 2XL in another–a high inconvenience considering these products have to be ordered prior to try-on.

Some customers have attempted to obtain refunds, but one consultant stated, “We were encouraged to replace, not refund, any damaged items.” She also said that her attempts at contacting anyone at LuLaRoe corporate were unsuccessful.

While many women have complaints, others have defended the brand and their cozy pants. If you're a proud LuLaRoe owner with a pair of leggings that's lasted you through years of lazy Sundays and carpool, there's no need to panic. While there's nothing you can do if fabric is intrinsically defective, there a few steps you can take to keep your reliable pairs hole-free. "Wash these the same way you would wash hosiery," explained Sachs. "Hand wash them, or if you choose to machine wash, use a delicate cycle and put them in a mesh bag to avoid agitation with other items in the wash."

It seems unlikely that LuLaRoe customers will pick up the needle and thread - or that sewing could even resolve many of these problems. Instead, the unhappy plaintiffs hope to secure 'monetary damages, restitution, injunctive and declaratory relief' from the company.
