Macaulay Culkin's recreations of some of the most memorable scenes from the film Home Alone continue to captivate viewers.
Even though it's only November, there are still four weeks till Christmas, so nothing like a little Home Alone to get you in the mood for the holidays and start worrying about your Christmas shopping.
But it's not really Home Alone the way you know it.
Social media users have been able to view a 2018 Google commercial in which Macaulay Culkin plays Kevin McCallister again, reenacting some of the most iconic moments from the movie from 1990.
The house is empty when Culkin arrives, and he asks: "Mom? Dad? Hey Google what's on the calendar today?"
"You have one event called 'House to Yourself'," Google's home assistant responds.
The adult Kevin played by Culkin then goes about having some alone time, much like he did in the movie when he was eight years old.
Giving yourself a much-needed shave is the epitome of being alone at home. Older Kevin discovers he runs out of aftershave and asks Google to put it on his shopping list, in contrast to younger Kevin who squirted cream all over his cheeks only to discover it actually burned his skin.
Kevin instructs Google to ' remind [him] to clean these sheets later' following a daring leap onto the bed, another memorable scene from the 1990 film.
While watching Angels with Filthy Souls, Kevin snuggles up and uses a movie line to talk to a pizza boy. Luckily, this doesn't frighten them as much.
Like in the first movie, he's also occupied with eating ice cream and having a large pile of goodies nearby.
Even when Kevin tells his house assistant to "turn the temperature down two degrees," his parents' furnace rears its head.
As the burglars approach the house, Kevin orders his Google device to "begin Operation Kevin" as he's about to devour his mac 'n' cheese. This sets off a series of homemade scare tactics meant to frighten the criminals off.
Even though Kevin is thirty years older, his creativity is evident in his work, which includes a dressed-up mop hooked to a robot hoover and a cut-out on a running toy train. The advertisement addresses: "Make Google do it."
Despite being launched only in 2018, the advertisement is quickly becoming as iconic as the 1990 movie it is based on.
After the video was retweeted by X account Historic Vids, comments praising the ad's creativity poured in. It was the ideal Christmas gift to see one of their favorite actors—who is soon to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—back on film.
One user said: "What a brilliant commercial. Brings back childhood memories of the original film."
"I love the hopping on the bed and hurting his back. Hilariously accurate!" Another added.
A third commented: "He finally got a bite of the Mac n cheese."
And a fourth resolved: "Grew up watching his movies every Christmas, always brings me good memories."
