You can make your own cell phone charger with just a few materials and a 9 volt battery! See how..
#1 Make Your Very Own Cell Phone Charger.
You can make a cell charger that you can carry ANYWHERE you wish. It runs on a 9 volt battery inside an Altoids container.
#2 Let's Begin!
Get a charger adapter form any dollar store. You'll need to take it apart by removing the ends.
You will also need a 9 volt battery, an Altoids tin, a 9 volt battery wiring unit, and a soldering gun.
#3 Twist Off The Bottom End.
he top will come off easily, but with pliers, remove the end that goes into the cigarette lighter, by twisting it off carefully.
#4 Remove The Charger Connector.
Open your adapter and remove the actual piece that you plug your phone jack into. You won't need the top plastic piece any longer.
#5 Cover Your End With A Hollowed Out Adapter Cover
The part you removed from the lighter adapter has a positive and negative end. Be careful with these as you put this unit inside a real cell phone cover, or take an old one apart and just use the rubber end and insert your part inside of it. This is just to hold it in place.
#6 You'll Need A Tin or An Altoids Container.
Cut a square the size of the adapter end in the side of your Altoids container. Make sure it is not to big and also that the opening is the same size as your adapter part. For best results, hot glue it down in place once you double check the it is set properly in the cut out hole.
#7 Getting Connected!
Your adapter ends, as stated, have a positive and negative end. You'll need a cheap 9 volt battery cover/wiring you can get at a hardware store or any department store. You will also need a 9 volt battery.
#8 Cap Your Battery.
Make sure everything fits before you begin soldering the wires together.
#9 Solder The Wiring Together.
If you have a soldering gun, simply hot solder each wire to the corresponding ends on your connector piece. The Black wire is the negative wire, and the red is the positive. Be very sure to solder these on the proper ends of the unit.
#10 Put Finished Battery Holder In Your Tin
You've all seen the insides of an old transistor radio or a child toy. Your container will look like this when you assemble it, with the battery lying on the end and the wires tucked carefully around the sides.
#11 Double Check Your Work.
If it has been assembled properly, the red light on the charger part will be lit up red. You now have a charger you can carry around with you.
#12 You're Ready To CHARGE!
Connect your phone cable to the Altoids tin/battery charger and you're ready to CHARGE!
#13 FINISHED!
Carry it in your purse, you car, your pocket... all you need to do is replace your battery when it wears out. Each charge takes about 1 hour to fully charge one device. However, you can quick charge for a few minutes in case of an emergency to make a short phone call.
