It is no surprise that parents are usually critical of their children's spouses and the phrase 'no one is good enough for their child' is often implied by the parents in one or another way. However, even in these actions, there is a bottom line that cannot be crossed. But these parents crossed that line too and now their son is not willing to forgive their shameless and hateful actions.

For this one Reddit user, his parents not only broke his trust but they pulled a stunt that left him questioning his relationship with his parents. The stunt in question is the parents of the man did a DNA test on their grandson to ensure that the child was his.

Subsequently, the man and his wife of two years cut his parents out of their lives, and he has now turned to Reddit for much-needed reassurance that he did not overreact by doing so.

The man shares the context of the story. He shares that he met his wife Sonya at a restaurant where she works as a waitress. However, his parents disapproved of their relationship as they believed that Sonya was using their son to achieve her 'American dream.'

Furious, the man labeled his parents racist.

The situation only worsened after the couple were close to their wedding date and returned to his parents to get their blessings, however, they refused: “Because of this, we decided to elope and only invited my brother and Sonya’s best friends to be our witnesses”, he wrote.

Now two years down the lane, the couple is living a happy life and welcomed their first child Garreth. After the birth of their grandson, the parents reached out to the couple in hopes of being a part of their grandson's life: “My kindhearted wife didn’t think twice to welcome my parents into our lives,” the Reddit user said. “She let them meet our baby two days after being discharged from the hospital.”

Things eventually started to get better between the family, however, it was until the guy heard his mom say to his son:  “Aren’t you the cutest baby ever? I am so glad to confirm you are indeed my grandson.”

Confused about what he heard, the guy's mom eventually spilled the beans and told him the truth. They had baby Garreth's DNA tested to make sure that he was their biological relation.

“I was speechless for a moment, and before I blew up from anger,” he wrote, “I told dad to give me my son and they better leave before I lose whatever respect I had left for them.

“My mom was very apologetic and said it’s because they don’t trust my wife and that our son looks nothing like me.”

However, it was only after two weeks that the guy confessed to his wife about the shameful incident after she asked that why his parents were no longer visiting them: “She started crying and it broke my heart”, he said, especially after she attempted to win their approval.

The couple then decided together to never again allow the grandparents to enter their child's life: “When mom called to ask when they can visit again, I told them they are no longer welcome in our son’s life. Mom called my dad and I told him the same thing”, he said.

“He was livid, he called me ungrateful and cruel.

“He also said a few choice words about my wife which angered me more. I didn’t even hear the rest because I just hung up.”

Anonymous strangers weighed in by declaring a label and the majority supported the guy:

  • NTA – Not The A**hole
  • YTA – You’re The A**hole
  • ESH – Everyone Sucks Here
  • NAH – No A**holes Here

The majority supported OP and wrote that if the grandparents have no regard for their own son, how will they regard their own grandchild and daughter-in-law. So instead of letting their child grow up in a negative and toxic environment with racist grandparents, it's better to have no contact with them.
