Man Impersonating Officers Hilariously Pulls Over Van Full Of Detectives

25-year-old Valiery Portlock tried his luck and failed when he decided to pretend to be an officer.

It was at around 11 am that the detectives were patrolling the streets after they heard talk of a man impersonating a police officer near Roosevelt Avenue in Hicksville.

What they presumed would be a tough search turned out to be a much easier job as Portlock decided to serve himself up on a silver platter.

The officers being in an unmarked van were surprised to see a black Nissan Sentra turn on emergency lights and blow an air horn, indicating for them to pull over.

This particular van, unfortunately for Portlock contained detectives of the Nassau County Police Department's Electronics Squad.

When they identified who they were to Portlock, he decided to make a run for it. He dangerously swerved along the Long Island Expressway but was soon apprehended.

An arrest report detailed the event as follows,

"According to detectives, defendant Valiery Portlock, 25, of 7 Gerald Ave., was traveling northbound on Hicksville Road in a black Nissan Sentra in the vicinity of Roosevelt Ave. when he activated his air horn and emergency lights in an attempt to pull over a van. The van was occupied by Nassau County Electronics Squad detectives."

He has been charged with ‘criminal impersonation, fleeing from police and reckless endangerment’.

The report continues, 

“The detectives, while stopped in traffic, identified themselves and approached the defendant’s vehicle. The defendant then fled the scene, swerved into oncoming traffic, and refused to stop. The defendant continued to drive at a high rate of speed onto the Long Island Expressway."

"Nassau County Highway Patrol officers were notified and soon spotted the defendant and initiated a traffic stop. Valiery Portlock was placed under arrest without incident.”

“Valiery Portlock is charged with Criminal Impersonation 1st degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, and Unlawful Fleeing from a Police Officer as well as multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at First District Court, Hempstead.”
