Meet the Hussles…

The group is just like any other couple. They go on dates together, hang out together, and even conduct in a bit of "hanky panky" as a foursome.

But before they were all polygamists, it was just Vanessa and Paulie. The two were married in 2003 and had two children together. They couldn't make it work as a monogamous couple and separated in 2006.

"When Vanessa and I began having problems in our marriage and broke up, I started seeing Hazel and then, Lady too," revealed Paulie. "I felt so guilty about what I was doing because I still loved my wife. I wanted to be with these two other women but I also wasn't ready to give up on Vanessa."

When Vanessa first heard of the news that Paulie was juggling other women. She was furious.

"Initially I hated the thought of these two women they made my blood boil," she said.

"I told my friends that if I ever met Hazel and Lady, it would end in a fist fight! But over time, I came to understand what Paulie was feeling and I became attracted and in love with these women too."

Paulie, 32, Vanessa, 31 (middle), Hazel, 27 (right), and Lady, 25 (left), live happily together in New Jersey with their three kids.

Paulie was an optimist. He hoped this relationship could work. "Vanessa was my best friend and my soulmate and I hoped we could still work things out as a foursome," he said.

As the relationship continued, Vanessa eventually found herself loving the idea. "When I told Paulie that I wanted to be in a relationship with him and Hazel and Lady, he cried tears of joy. It was like we had finally found happiness together it saved our marriage."

Matching Tattoos

Now, the girls embrace being known as "Paulie's wives." The girls have matching tattoos of their husband on their chest, while their husband Paulie has a tattoo of all three of them on his chest.

It's not as easy as they make it seem.

However, this relationship isn't easy. Paulie has to make sure he gives them all equal time with him. "I have a special calendar on my iPad which I have colour-coded for each wife to make sure that I take them on individual dates and give them the attention they deserve," he revealed.

"‘But the four of us love to get dressed up and go out for fancy dinners together. People stare at us when we walk into restaurants but we don't care."

Sex is "interesting" to say the least.

And when it comes to getting intimate, Paulie revealed that he leaves an album on and they all take turns being with the man. Each girl gets him for the duration of one song.

They document their lives for the world to see.

The four of them all run a polyamory blog documenting their lives. Paulie calls himself the "Lord of the Wives" while their social following has dubbed the ladies as "Paulie's Wives."

The strange relationship saved their marriage.

"Paulie is such a caring husband to all of us. Some people look at our family and think it's a one-sided thing but we all love each other equally," says Vanessa. "Lots of couple experience problems in their marriage but are too scared to explore other options. I couldn't live without these two women now."

Hazel loves it.

Hazel explains: ‘We are sisters, best friends, partners in crime - we're everything to each other. We all love each other equally and we have a bond - that's the best part of our relationship.'

‘We've all tried monogamous relationships before and it's never worked for us. Sometimes you can get bored of a guy - we love the variety of a polyamorous relationship.'

‘I love having the girls around. And when Paulie's working, we can still have fun with each other.'

As does Lady who likes to joke about the situation.

The group are currently happy being a foursome, but are open to introducing more people into their relationship. In fact, they have had other women in the mix. "We've had two "wives" come and go we jokingly call them divorces! But we still have chats with our ex-wives they come round and visit. There's never any hate," revealed Lady.

Would they ever add another male?

But would they ever bring a guy into the group? "People ask me if I would allow another man in the relationship. But it's not my decision, just because I'm a man that doesn't mean I run the show or make rules," revealed Paulie. "I wouldn't mind having another man at all. I let my wives do whatever they want, we don't get jealous or overprotective."

All four have adopted the last name “Hussle,” and Paulie made T-shirts with his face or the titles “Sister Wives” and “Pauliegamy” for them to wear.

Paulie admits they do get criticised over their unconventional lifestyle.

He explains: ‘I've had some ups and downs with my family but ultimately, they respect my lifestyle. Thankfully the kids have never been bullied - I've taught them to be proud of their family and stand up for themselves.'

‘They know who their mom is and they see the other girls as nannies.'

‘People have judged me for the way I live and I've been turned down for business opportunities because they've known I was poly.'

‘But at the end of the day, Vanessa, Hazel and Lady and I have been together for a long time now. We've grown with each other, our relationship is not just a passing phase. I'm so grateful for what we have together. I feel like the luckiest man alive.'

As for the future, the foursome says they are open to expanding their family.

Vanessa says: ‘Hazel would like to have a child with Paulie too, maybe in a year or two.'

‘We are open to other wives joining but I know whatever happens, it'll always be me, Hazel and Lady. We're happy with our set up.'

‘We're in this forever now - I can't imagine life without Paulie and my sister wives.'
