Man Who Won $50 Million In Lottery Woke Up At 4:30am To Go Back To Work The Following Week

After winning the $50 million jackpot in a recent lottery draw, a man shared that he chose to go to work at the crack of dawn the following morning, despite now being incredibly wealthy.

For most people, the dream of winning the lottery involves quitting their jobs instantly and living a life of luxury, jetting off to exotic destinations without any financial concerns. 

Returning to work, even for a day or two, is probably not something many jackpot winners would consider.

However, a modest individual from Montreal, Canada, has announced that he plans to continue working for at least another month.

Pierre Richer, a man in his 60s, achieved a remarkable $50 million victory in the Lotto Max jackpot.

However, he chose to uphold his commitment and responsibility to his colleagues by getting up at 4:30 AM the following day and going to work.

Pierre, whose last name now seems perfectly suited to his newfound financial status, received the news of his $50 million win on October 6. He candidly shared his remarkably calm reaction to the revelation that he had become unimaginably wealthy.

He revealed that his girlfriend had told him about the life-changing win, adding: "I just said okay, and I walked out."

Pierre revealed: "I'm still the same, I haven't changed. Now I know I've won the money but my body doesn't feel any different."

The head of shipping at a catering company based in Quebec, who also worked as a driver, disclosed the reason behind his decision to wake up and go to work the next day, despite having no financial need for his paycheck any longer.

Despite the fact that most of us would have likely been enjoying the sun on a yacht by now, Pierre surprised everyone by disclosing that he has no immediate plans to resign from his job.

He explained: "For a little while, not for long, but I'll give it at least a month and see what I'm going to do."

"I just can’t leave them alone in the dark. Without me there, the shipping department is not feasible."

Additionally, he revealed that he had been playing the lottery for about 30 years before hitting the jackpot and hadn't actually intended to buy a ticket for that particular draw. 

Instead, it was purely by chance that he found himself at the Super C store that day because he had accompanied his daughter, who was there to purchase discounted pie crust in preparation for Thanksgiving.

He explained: "With the pie crust being on sale at the Super C, my daughter went in to get it and I got the ticket.So without the pie crust being on sale I wouldn't have went to Super C."

Regarding how he plans to use his newfound wealth, Pierre has aspirations of purchasing a new home and a new car.

As reported by CTV News, his dream includes tending to the lawn at his new property and ensuring the financial well-being of his family.
