Michigan Mom, 29 Tragically Dies Saving 5-Year Old Twins Sons In Rear-End Crash
A Michigan mom tragically passed away while trying to save her twin boys when a speeding car on a suspended license hit into their car, the heartbroken mother reveals.
As WJBK reported, Hillarie Galazka, 29, was driving her 5-year-old boys back to their Lincoln Park home late Monday when a careless 25-year old driver hit their car on an entrance ramp of Interstate 96 near Davison.
Galazka's distraught mom, Jodie Kelley, talking to the local media said: “Her body saved them,” The boys say they saw her open her eyes and look at them and then she closed her eyes, never opened them again. They remember that.”
Galazka who was a mother of three including her 8-year old son saved her boys' lives by becoming a human shield for them that resulted in her kids getting away from minor injuries.
Michigan State Police is now investigating the fatal crash and the 25-year old reckless driver who hit Galazka's car was found by the police at a hospital.
WJBK reported that the driver was speeding on a suspended license while he already had two arrest warrants issued in his name.
“I am devastated,” Kelley told the station. “I cannot believe that this man wasn’t in prison for his entire life for all of his warrants. I can’t believe he was behind the wheel doing 90 miles per hour in an SUV.”

The devastated mom says her daughter was her best friend. “She’s gone now,” the emotional mother told the station.
Galazka’s brother said his sister was well-liked by everyone who knew her. “I’m just glad the babies survived a tragedy for the family,” Jacob Galazka said.
“Everyone loves those kids. Everyone loves Hillarie. She’s a good-hearted, strong, beautiful woman. She didn’t deserve this death.”
An online fundraiser set up by Galazka's mom to offset her daughter’s funeral costs had eclipsed $15,000 as of Thursday.
“My daughter was tragically rear ended in a car accident and she passed away on scene,” the website reads.
Kelley wrote that her daughter died while protecting her kids and described her as a 'strong, loving' person.
As per WJBK, the case is under investigation and the prosecutors are still deciding that what charges the reckless driver should face.
