Model Leaves People Baffled After Walking Down Runway At Open-Casket Funeral

Yeah, this isn't a joke. At a funeral on November 10, New Jersey model Erica L. Carrington walked the red carpet.

Nevertheless, it all becomes much more clear when you realize whose funeral Carrington was at. Let's just say that if someone stole the spotlight at my burial, I would be crawling out of the grave to grab it back. Or else I would haunt them forever.

At a funeral, a runway? Now that we know Carrington was present at the fashion designer Vernest Moore's burial, it all makes much more sense.

Instagram users saw Carrington performing 'You Are My Friend (B.O.P. Soul Classic Mix)' in a video that was captured by LaTanya Green-Chan.

The caption reads: "I was hyperventilating almost up until the VERY MOMENT I hit the runway. To say that this was one of THEE MOST CHALLENGING things I have had to do would be an understatement.”

"I CAN’T BELIEVE this would be my final walk for you, so I WON’T! From now on…even if I’m not walking FOR YOU, I’ll be walking WITH YOU, because I know you’ll ALWAYS be with me."

Additionally, the video has confused some social media users.

An Instagram user said: "Wait. Wait. Wait again I say wait. Was this a real funeral? Seriously was it? Or part of the show?"

"How u end up making the the funeral about you???" a second said.

Some, nevertheless, thought the runway tribute was fantastic, with one user noting: "I pray that when it’s my time… all my creative friends like yourself arrive with this type of energy. To be paid homage in the way we lived! This is beautiful and it gave me chills. RIP to your friend. Love u Erica."

Another admitted: "My first thought was “way to make it about yourself”. I didn’t even realize it was a funeral at first. But learning he was a fashion designer, this is actually pretty epic."

In a TMZ interview, Carrington defended the decision, claiming that Vernest discussed the idea "really early on" with one of his friends.

"He actually planned the three-day celebration, which is what we like to call it. So there was discussion about how he wanted each day to be," she adds.

Carrington made a decision "That's all that matters" and "he would have liked" were the parting remarks given to Vernest.

'I still get emotional thinking about it and watching the video because I shared some of his last moments with him not even knowing that they were his last moments,' she said. 'So that just tells you what type of person he was.' 

Even though Carrington said she was breathing heavily before entering the viewing, she could hear Moore asking her to "pull it together."

'So that's what I tried to do for him, and it was an honor to be able to do that,' the model said.
