Rachel, who preferred to remain anonymous, but goes by the name Rachel, hurriedly made her way to the Only About Children center in Melbourne upon receiving a distressing call about an incident involving her son, Noah, and another child.

Mother was left in a state of shock and horror when she collected her 10-week-old baby, Noah, from a childcare center only to discover him bleeding and covered in deep, dark scratches on his face.

Expressing her thoughts through a translator, Rachel revealed that both she and her husband were overwhelmed with disbelief when they learned about the unfortunate incident that their son had encountered at the childcare center.

“We cried all the way along. We couldn’t believe a horrible thing could happen to our boy, we couldn’t accept this,” she told 9News.

Noah's face was covered in scratches, clearly visible as red marks on the infant's delicate skin, as depicted in the photographs shared by Only About Children after the incident. However, Rachel expressed her inability to view the pictures due to their graphic nature, causing her immense distress.

According to reports, the daycare center provided an explanation to Rachel, stating that Noah had been scratched by another child during a brief period when an educator was momentarily occupied with changing a third child's nappy.

However, Rachel remains unconvinced and does not accept the daycare center's account of the events leading to her son's injuries.

“The explanation from the center is this thing just happened accidentally. But we can’t accept this explanation, because there was more than 20 scratches on Noah’s face.”

“How can this happen accidentally?” she said.

“My husband says this is definitely not an accident, this is child abuse.”

After the incident, the baby was promptly taken to Box Hill Hospital, where medical professionals carefully examined and cleansed his wounds.

Rachel mentioned that Noah's condition was improving, and according to doctors, his facial injuries are not expected to leave any lasting scars. However, it's worth noting that Noah has not yet returned to the childcare center since the incident occurred.

Medical professionals expressed their astonishment at the extent of Noah's deep scratches, going to the extent of conducting examinations to ensure that his eyes and brain had not suffered any damage.

While media requests for comment were declined by Only About Children Melbourne Central, it has been reported that the center apologized to the family via email, as mentioned by 7News.com.au.

In the apology email, the childcare center expressed its commitment to implementing an "action plan" to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

The Victorian Department of Education has acknowledged being aware of the incident and stated that the childcare center has modified its policies as a result.

"The department takes the safety, security and wellbeing of every child extremely seriously.”

The pictures of the baby's face have gained significant attention on social media, quickly spreading viral, and leaving numerous users astonished by the extent of the injuries.

One Facebook user wrote: “How is a toddler and 10 week old under supervision in the same area? From my time working in childcare years ago to experiences with family, as soon as they are mobile, they get moved up a room.”

Another said: “Ok, I understand and could let it slide with one at most from another child if dealt correctly, but a baby and that many I don't understand…”

While a third shared: “So heartbreaking! So traumatized for us mums!”
